(a) ἀφίεμεν (present tense), αφιομεν (present tense), or ἀφήκαμεν (aorist tense)? Vulgate (dimisimus – first-person plural perfect active indicative). According to G.H. Gwilliam, Peshitta (ܫܒ݂ܰܩܢ) supports ἀφήκαμεν of Codex Vaticanus. However, in Luke 11:4, ܫܒ݂ܰܩܢ (first person plural perfect tense PEAL) is used for ἀφίεμεν/αφιομεν. The authority of Origen does not amount to much, since he elsewhere cites ἀφίεμεν. Bloomfield thinks that ἀφήκαμεν was probably an alteration of a critic, who thought that the aorist, as expressive of customary action (“we have forgiven and do forgive”), would present a more complete sense.
