(a) Φαρισαῖοι καὶ γραμματεῖς. This order is so much less common in the New Testament, that even if the evidence were about equal it would be preferable. This peculiar order indicates design, and this is more likely to have been on the part of the sacred writer than on that of a copyist, while the more usual arrangement would naturally occur to the mere scribe.
