1 επικαλεσαι δε ει τις σοι υπακουσεται η ει τινα αγγελων αγιων οψη
קְֽרָא־נָ֭א הֲיֵ֣שׁ עוֹנֶ֑ךָּ וְאֶל־מִ֖י מִקְּדֹשִׁ֣ים תִּפְנֶֽה׃
Call now, if there be any that will answer you; and to which of the saints will you turn?
2 και γαρ αφρονα αναιρει οργη πεπλανημενον δε θανατοι ζηλος
כִּֽי־לֶֽ֭אֱוִיל יַהֲרָג־כָּ֑עַשׂ וּ֝פֹתֶ֗ה תָּמִ֥ית קִנְאָֽה׃
For wrath kills the foolish man, and envy slays the silly one.
3 εγω δε εωρακα αφρονας ριζαν βαλλοντας αλλ ευθεως εβρωθη αυτων η διαιτα
אֲ‍ֽנִי־רָ֭אִיתִי אֱוִ֣יל מַשְׁרִ֑ישׁ וָאֶקּ֖וֹב נָוֵ֣הוּ פִתְאֹֽם׃
I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4 πορρω γενοιντο οι υιοι αυτων απο σωτηριας κολαβρισθειησαν δε επι θυραις ησσονων και ουκ εσται ο εξαιρουμενος
יִרְחֲק֣וּ בָנָ֣יו מִיֶּ֑שַׁע וְיִֽדַּכְּא֥וּ בַ֝שַּׁ֗עַר וְאֵ֣ין מַצִּֽיל׃
His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
5 α γαρ εκεινοι συνηγαγον δικαιοι εδονται αυτοι δε εκ κακων ουκ εξαιρετοι εσονται εκσιφωνισθειη αυτων η ισχυς
אֲשֶׁ֤ר קְצִיר֨וֹ ׀ רָ֘עֵ֤ב יֹאכֵ֗ל וְאֶֽל־מִצִּנִּ֥ים יִקָּחֵ֑הוּ וְשָׁאַ֖ף צַמִּ֣ים חֵילָֽם׃
Whose harvest the hungry eats up, and takes it even out of the thorns, and the robber swallows up their substance.
6 ου γαρ μη εξελθη εκ της γης κοπος ουδε εξ ορεων αναβλαστησει πονος
כִּ֤י ׀ לֹא־יֵצֵ֣א מֵעָפָ֣ר אָ֑וֶן וּ֝מֵאֲדָמָ֗ה לֹא־יִצְמַ֥ח עָמָֽל׃
Although affliction comes not out of the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;
7 αλλα ανθρωπος γενναται κοπω νεοσσοι δε γυπος τα υψηλα πετονται
כִּֽי־אָ֭דָם לְעָמָ֣ל יוּלָּ֑ד וּבְנֵי־רֶ֝֗שֶׁף יַגְבִּ֥יהוּ עֽוּף׃
Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
8 ου μην δε αλλα εγω δεηθησομαι κυριου κυριον δε τον παντων δεσποτην επικαλεσομαι
אוּלָ֗ם אֲ֭נִי אֶדְרֹ֣שׁ אֶל־אֵ֑ל וְאֶל־אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים אָשִׂ֥ים דִּבְרָתִֽי׃
I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
9 τον ποιουντα μεγαλα και ανεξιχνιαστα ενδοξα τε και εξαισια ων ουκ εστιν αριθμος
עֹשֶׂ֣ה גְ֭דֹלוֹת וְאֵ֣ין חֵ֑קֶר נִ֝פְלָא֗וֹת עַד־אֵ֥ין מִסְפָּֽר׃
Which does great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
10 τον διδοντα υετον επι την γην αποστελλοντα υδωρ επι την υπ ουρανον
הַנֹּתֵ֣ן מָ֭טָר עַל־פְּנֵי־אָ֑רֶץ וְשֹׁ֥לֵֽחַ מַ֝יִם עַל־פְּנֵ֥י חוּצֽוֹת׃
Who gives rain upon the earth, and sends waters upon the fields:
11 τον ποιουντα ταπεινους εις υψος και απολωλοτας εξεγειροντα
לָשׂ֣וּם שְׁפָלִ֣ים לְמָר֑וֹם וְ֝קֹדְרִ֗ים שָׂ֣גְבוּ יֶֽשַׁע׃
To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
12 διαλλασσοντα βουλας πανουργων και ου μη ποιησουσιν αι χειρες αυτων αληθες
מֵ֭פֵר מַחְשְׁב֣וֹת עֲרוּמִ֑ים וְֽלֹא־תַעֲשֶׂ֥ינָה יְ֝דֵיהֶ֗ם תּוּשִׁיָּֽה׃
He dissapoints the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
13 ο καταλαμβανων σοφους εν τη φρονησει βουλην δε πολυπλοκων εξεστησεν
לֹכֵ֣ד חֲכָמִ֣ים בְּעָרְמָ֑ם וַעֲצַ֖ת נִפְתָּלִ֣ים נִמְהָֽרָה׃
He takes the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the perverse is carried headlong.
14 ημερας συναντησεται αυτοις σκοτος το δε μεσημβρινον ψηλαφησαισαν ισα νυκτι
יוֹמָ֥ם יְפַגְּשׁוּ־חֹ֑שֶׁךְ וְ֝כַלַּ֗יְלָה יְֽמַשְׁשׁ֥וּ בַֽצָּהֳרָֽיִם׃
They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
15 απολοιντο δε εν πολεμω αδυνατος δε εξελθοι εκ χειρος δυναστου
וַיֹּ֣שַׁע מֵ֭חֶרֶב מִפִּיהֶ֑ם וּמִיַּ֖ד חָזָ֣ק אֶבְיֽוֹן׃
But he saves the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16 ειη δε αδυνατω ελπις αδικου δε στομα εμφραχθειη
וַתְּהִ֣י לַדַּ֣ל תִּקְוָ֑ה וְ֝עֹלָ֗תָה קָ֣פְצָה פִּֽיהָ׃
So the poor has hope, and iniquity stops her mouth.
17 μακαριος δε ανθρωπος ον ηλεγξεν ο κυριος νουθετημα δε παντοκρατορος μη απαναινου
הִנֵּ֤ה אַשְׁרֵ֣י אֱ֭נוֹשׁ יוֹכִחֶ֣נּֽוּ אֱל֑וֹהַּ וּמוּסַ֥ר שַׁ֝דַּ֗י אַל־תִּמְאָֽס׃
Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not you the chastening of the Almighty:
18 αυτος γαρ αλγειν ποιει και παλιν αποκαθιστησιν επαισεν και αι χειρες αυτου ιασαντο
כִּ֤י ה֣וּא יַכְאִ֣יב וְיֶחְבָּ֑שׁ יִ֝מְחַ֗ץ *וידו **וְיָדָ֥יו תִּרְפֶּֽינָה׃
For he makes sore, and binds up: he wounds, and his hands make whole.
19 εξακις εξ αναγκων σε εξελειται εν δε τω εβδομω ου μη αψηται σου κακον
בְּשֵׁ֣שׁ צָ֭רוֹת יַצִּילֶ֑ךָּ וּבְשֶׁ֓בַע ׀ לֹא־יִגַּ֖ע בְּךָ֣ רָֽע׃
He shall deliver you in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch you.
20 εν λιμω ρυσεται σε εκ θανατου εν πολεμω δε εκ χειρος σιδηρου λυσει σε
בְּ֭רָעָב פָּֽדְךָ֣ מִמָּ֑וֶת וּ֝בְמִלְחָמָ֗ה מִ֣ידֵי חָֽרֶב׃
In famine he shall redeem you from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21 απο μαστιγος γλωσσης σε κρυψει και ου μη φοβηθης απο κακων ερχομενων
בְּשׁ֣וֹט לָ֭שׁוֹן תֵּחָבֵ֑א וְֽלֹא־תִירָ֥א מִ֝שֹּׁ֗ד כִּ֣י יָבֽוֹא׃
You shall be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
22 αδικων και ανομων καταγελαση απο δε θηριων αγριων ου μη φοβηθης
לְשֹׁ֣ד וּלְכָפָ֣ן תִּשְׂחָ֑ק וּֽמֵחַיַּ֥ת הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ אַל־תִּירָֽא׃
At destruction and famine you shall laugh: neither shall you be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23 θηρες γαρ αγριοι ειρηνευσουσιν σοι
כִּ֤י עִם־אַבְנֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה בְרִיתֶ֑ךָ וְחַיַּ֥ת הַ֝שָּׂדֶ֗ה הָשְׁלְמָה־לָֽךְ׃
For you shall be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with you.
24 ειτα γνωση οτι ειρηνευσει σου ο οικος η δε διαιτα της σκηνης σου ου μη αμαρτη
וְֽ֭יָדַעְתָּ כִּי־שָׁל֣וֹם אָהֳלֶ֑ךָ וּֽפָקַדְתָּ֥ נָ֝וְךָ וְלֹ֣א תֶחֱטָֽא׃
And you shall know that your tabernacle shall be in peace; and you shall visit your habitation, and shall not sin.
25 γνωση δε οτι πολυ το σπερμα σου τα δε τεκνα σου εσται ωσπερ το παμβοτανον του αγρου
וְֽ֭יָדַעְתָּ כִּי־רַ֣ב זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וְ֝צֶאֱצָאֶ֗יךָ כְּעֵ֣שֶׂב הָאָֽרֶץ׃
You shall know also that your seed shall be great, and yours offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 ελευση δε εν ταφω ωσπερ σιτος ωριμος κατα καιρον θεριζομενος η ωσπερ θιμωνια αλωνος καθ ωραν συγκομισθεισα
תָּב֣וֹא בְכֶ֣לַח אֱלֵי־קָ֑בֶר כַּעֲל֖וֹת גָּדִ֣ישׁ בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃
You shall come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of corn comes in in his season.
27 ιδου ταυτα ουτως εξιχνιασαμεν ταυτα εστιν α ακηκοαμεν συ δε γνωθι σεαυτω ει τι επραξας
הִנֵּה־זֹ֭את חֲקַרְנ֥וּהָ כֶּֽן־הִ֑יא שְׁ֝מָעֶ֗נָּה וְאַתָּ֥ה דַֽע־לָֽךְ׃ פ
Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know you it for your good.
