A Promised Ruler From Bethlehem
νυν εμφραχθησεται θυγατηρ εφραιμ εν φραγμω συνοχην εταξεν εφ ημας εν ραβδω παταξουσιν επι σιαγονα τας φυλας του ισραηλ
וְאַתָּ֞ה בֵּֽית־לֶ֣חֶם אֶפְרָ֗תָה צָעִיר֙ לִֽהְיוֹת֙ בְּאַלְפֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה מִמְּךָ֙ לִ֣י יֵצֵ֔א לִֽהְי֥וֹת מוֹשֵׁ֖ל בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וּמוֹצָאֹתָ֥יו מִקֶּ֖דֶם מִימֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃
Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops: he has laid siege against us: they shall strike the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
2 και συ βηθλεεμ οικος του εφραθα ολιγοστος ει του ειναι εν χιλιασιν ιουδα εκ σου μοι εξελευσεται του ειναι εις αρχοντα εν τω ισραηλ και αι εξοδοι αυτου απ αρχης εξ ημερων αιωνος
לָכֵ֣ן יִתְּנֵ֔ם עַד־עֵ֥ת יוֹלֵדָ֖ה יָלָ֑דָה וְיֶ֣תֶר אֶחָ֔יו יְשׁוּב֖וּן עַל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he comes forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose activities forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
3 δια τουτο δωσει αυτους εως καιρου τικτουσης τεξεται και οι επιλοιποι των αδελφων αυτων επιστρεψουσιν επι τους υιους ισραηλ
וְעָמַ֗ד וְרָעָה֙ בְּעֹ֣ז יְהוָ֔ה בִּגְא֕וֹן שֵׁ֖ם יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֑יו וְיָשָׁ֕בוּ כִּֽי־עַתָּ֥ה יִגְדַּ֖ל עַד־אַפְסֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃
Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which labors has brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
4 και στησεται και οψεται και ποιμανει το ποιμνιον αυτου εν ισχυι κυριου και εν τη δοξη του ονοματος κυριου του θεου αυτων υπαρξουσιν διοτι νυν μεγαλυνθησεται εως ακρων της γης
וְהָיָ֥ה זֶ֖ה שָׁל֑וֹם אַשּׁ֣וּר ׀ כִּֽי־יָב֣וֹא בְאַרְצֵ֗נוּ וְכִ֤י יִדְרֹךְ֙ בְּאַרְמְנֹתֵ֔ינוּ וַהֲקֵמֹ֤נוּ עָלָיו֙ שִׁבְעָ֣ה רֹעִ֔ים וּשְׁמֹנָ֖ה נְסִיכֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃
And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
5 και εσται αυτη ειρηνη οταν ασσυριος επελθη επι την γην υμων και οταν επιβη επι την χωραν υμων και επεγερθησονται επ αυτον επτα ποιμενες και οκτω δηγματα ανθρωπων
וְרָע֞וּ אֶת־אֶ֤רֶץ אַשּׁוּר֙ בַּחֶ֔רֶב וְאֶת־אֶ֥רֶץ נִמְרֹ֖ד בִּפְתָחֶ֑יהָ וְהִצִּיל֙ מֵֽאַשּׁ֔וּר כִּֽי־יָב֣וֹא בְאַרְצֵ֔נוּ וְכִ֥י יִדְרֹ֖ךְ בִּגְבוּלֵֽנוּ׃ ס
And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
6 και ποιμανουσιν τον ασσουρ εν ρομφαια και την γην του νεβρωδ εν τη ταφρω αυτης και ρυσεται εκ του ασσουρ οταν επελθη επι την γην υμων και οταν επιβη επι τα ορια υμων
וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יַעֲקֹ֗ב בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים כְּטַל֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה כִּרְבִיבִ֖ים עֲלֵי־עֵ֑שֶׂב אֲשֶׁ֤ר לֹֽא־יְקַוֶּה֙ לְאִ֔ישׁ וְלֹ֥א יְיַחֵ֖ל לִבְנֵ֥י אָדָֽם׃
And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads within our borders.
7 και εσται το υπολειμμα του ιακωβ εν τοις εθνεσιν εν μεσω λαων πολλων ως δροσος παρα κυριου πιπτουσα και ως αρνες επι αγρωστιν οπως μη συναχθη μηδεις μηδε υποστη εν υιοις ανθρωπων
וְהָיָה֩ שְׁאֵרִ֨ית יַעֲקֹ֜ב בַּגּוֹיִ֗ם בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙ עַמִּ֣ים רַבִּ֔ים כְּאַרְיֵה֙ בְּבַהֲמ֣וֹת יַ֔עַר כִּכְפִ֖יר בְּעֶדְרֵי צֹ֑אן אֲשֶׁ֧ר אִם עָבַ֛ר וְרָמַ֥ס וְטָרַ֖ף וְאֵ֥ין מַצִּֽיל׃
And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarries not for man, nor waits for the sons of men.
8 και εσται το υπολειμμα του ιακωβ εν τοις εθνεσιν εν μεσω λαων πολλων ως λεων εν κτηνεσιν εν τω δρυμω και ως σκυμνος εν ποιμνιοις προβατων ον τροπον οταν διελθη και διαστειλας αρπαση και μη η ο εξαιρουμενος
תָּרֹ֥ם יָדְךָ֖ עַל־צָרֶ֑יךָ וְכָל־אֹיְבֶ֖יךָ יִכָּרֵֽתוּ׃ פ
And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treads down, and tears in pieces, and none can deliver.
9 υψωθησεται η χειρ σου επι τους θλιβοντας σε και παντες οι εχθροι σου εξολεθρευθησονται
וְהָיָ֤ה בַיּוֹם־הַהוּא֙ נְאֻם־יְהוָ֔ה וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י סוּסֶ֖יךָ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֖י מַרְכְּבֹתֶֽיךָ׃
Yours hand shall be lifted up upon yours adversaries, and all yours enemies shall be cut off.
10 και εσται εν εκεινη τη ημερα λεγει κυριος εξολεθρευσω τους ιππους σου εκ μεσου σου και απολω τα αρματα σου
וְהִכְרַתִּ֖י עָרֵ֣י אַרְצֶ֑ךָ וְהָרַסְתִּ֖י כָּל־מִבְצָרֶֽיךָ׃
And it shall come to pass in that day, says the LORD, that I will cut off your horses out of the midst of you, and I will destroy your chariots:
11 και εξολεθρευσω τας πολεις της γης σου και εξαρω παντα τα οχυρωματα σου
וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י כְשָׁפִ֖ים מִיָּדֶ֑ךָ וּֽמְעוֹנְנִ֖ים לֹ֥א יִֽהְיוּ־לָֽךְ׃
And I will cut off the cities of your land, and throw down all your strong holds:
12 και εξαρω τα φαρμακα σου εκ των χειρων σου και αποφθεγγομενοι ουκ εσονται εν σοι
וְהִכְרַתִּ֧י פְסִילֶ֛יךָ וּמַצֵּבוֹתֶ֖יךָ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ וְלֹֽא־תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֥ה ע֖וֹד לְמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה יָדֶֽיךָ׃
And I will cut off witchcrafts out of yours hand; and you shall have no more soothsayers:
13 και εξολεθρευσω τα γλυπτα σου και τας στηλας σου εκ μεσου σου και ουκετι μη προσκυνησης τοις εργοις των χειρων σου
וְנָתַשְׁתִּ֥י אֲשֵׁירֶ֖יךָ מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ וְהִשְׁמַדְתִּ֖י עָרֶֽיךָ׃
Your graven images also will I cut off, and your standing images out of the midst of you; and you shall no more worship the work of yours hands.
14 και εκκοψω τα αλση σου εκ μεσου σου και αφανιω τας πολεις σου
וְעָשִׂ֜יתִי בְּאַ֧ף וּבְחֵמָ֛ה נָקָ֖ם אֶת־הַגּוֹיִ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֥א שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ ס
And I will pluck up your groves out of the midst of you: so will I destroy your cities.
15 και ποιησω εν οργη και εν θυμω εκδικησιν εν τοις εθνεσιν ανθ ων ουκ εισηκουσαν
And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.
