Consecration of the Firstborn
ειπεν δε κυριος προς μωυσην λεγων
ַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃
And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 αγιασον μοι παν πρωτοτοκον πρωτογενες διανοιγον πασαν μητραν εν τοις υιοις ισραηλ απο ανθρωπου εως κτηνους εμοι εστιν
ַדֶּשׁ־לִ֨י כָל־בְּכ֜וֹר פֶּ֤טֶר כָּל־רֶ֙חֶם֙ בִּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בָּאָדָ֖ם וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה לִ֖י הֽוּא׃
Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.
3 ειπεν δε μωυσης προς τον λαον μνημονευετε την ημεραν ταυτην εν η εξηλθατε εκ γης αιγυπτου εξ οικου δουλειας εν γαρ χειρι κραταια εξηγαγεν υμας κυριος εντευθεν και ου βρωθησεται ζυμη
ַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶל־הָעָ֗ם זָכ֞וֹר אֶת־הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְצָאתֶ֤ם מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ מִבֵּ֣ית עֲבָדִ֔ים כִּ֚י בְּחֹ֣זֶק יָ֔ד הוֹצִ֧יא יְהֹוָ֛ה אֶתְכֶ֖ם מִזֶּ֑ה וְלֹ֥א יֵאָכֵ֖ל חָמֵֽץ׃
And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which all of you came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.
4 εν γαρ τη σημερον υμεις εκπορευεσθε εν μηνι των νεων
ַיּ֖וֹם אַתֶּ֣ם יֹצְאִ֑ים בְּחֹ֖דֶשׁ הָאָבִֽיב׃
This day came all of you out in the month Abib.
5 και εσται ηνικα εαν εισαγαγη σε κυριος ο θεος σου εις την γην των χαναναιων και χετταιων και ευαιων και γεργεσαιων και αμορραιων και φερεζαιων και ιεβουσαιων ην ωμοσεν τοις πατρασιν σου δουναι σοι γην ρεουσαν γαλα και μελι και ποιησεις την λατρειαν ταυτην εν τω μηνι τουτω
ְהָיָ֣ה כִֽי־יְבִֽיאֲךָ֣ יְהוָ֡ה אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽ֠כְּנַעֲנִי וְהַחִתִּ֨י וְהָאֱמֹרִ֜י וְהַחִוִּ֣י וְהַיְבוּסִ֗י אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֤ע לַאֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ לָ֣תֶת לָ֔ךְ אֶ֛רֶץ זָבַ֥ת חָלָ֖ב וּדְבָ֑שׁ וְעָבַדְתָּ֛ אֶת־הָעֲבֹדָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את בַּחֹ֥דֶשׁ הַזֶּֽה׃
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he swore unto your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.
6 εξ ημερας εδεσθε αζυμα τη δε ημερα τη εβδομη εορτη κυριου
ִׁבְעַ֥ת יָמִ֖ים תֹּאכַ֣ל מַצֹּ֑ת וּבַיּוֹם֙ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י חַ֖ג לַיהוָֽה׃
Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.
7 αζυμα εδεσθε τας επτα ημερας ουκ οφθησεται σοι ζυμωτον ουδε εσται σοι ζυμη εν πασιν τοις οριοις σου
ַצּוֹת֙ יֵֽאָכֵ֔ל אֵ֖ת שִׁבְעַ֣ת הַיָּמִ֑ים וְלֹֽא־יֵרָאֶ֨ה לְךָ֜ חָמֵ֗ץ וְלֹֽא־יֵרָאֶ֥ה לְךָ֛ שְׂאֹ֖ר בְּכָל־גְּבֻלֶֽךָ׃
Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with you, neither shall there be leaven seen with you in all your quarters.
8 και αναγγελεις τω υιω σου εν τη ημερα εκεινη λεγων δια τουτο εποιησεν κυριος ο θεος μοι ως εξεπορευομην εξ αιγυπτου
ְהִגַּדְתָּ֣ לְבִנְךָ֔ בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא לֵאמֹ֑ר בַּעֲב֣וּר זֶ֗ה עָשָׂ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לִ֔י בְּצֵאתִ֖י מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
And you shall show your son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.
9 και εσται σοι σημειον επι της χειρος σου και μνημοσυνον προ οφθαλμων σου οπως αν γενηται ο νομος κυριου εν τω στοματι σου εν γαρ χειρι κραταια εξηγαγεν σε κυριος ο θεος εξ αιγυπτου
ְהָיָה֩ לְךָ֨ לְא֜וֹת עַל־יָדְךָ֗ וּלְזִכָּרוֹן֙ בֵּ֣ין עֵינֶ֔יךָ לְמַ֗עַן תִּהְיֶ֛ה תּוֹרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה בְּפִ֑יךָ כִּ֚י בְּיָ֣ד חֲזָקָ֔ה הוֹצִֽאֲךָ֥ יְהֹוָ֖ה מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃
And it shall be for a sign unto you upon yours hand, and for a memorial between yours eyes, that the LORD's law may be in your mouth: for with a strong hand has the LORD brought you out of Egypt.
10 και φυλαξεσθε τον νομον τουτον κατα καιρους ωρων αφ ημερων εις ημερας
ְשָׁמַרְתָּ֛ אֶת־הַחֻקָּ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את לְמוֹעֲדָ֑הּ מִיָּמִ֖ים יָמִֽימָה׃ ס
You shall therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.
11 και εσται ως αν εισαγαγη σε κυριος ο θεος σου εις την γην των χαναναιων ον τροπον ωμοσεν τοις πατρασιν σου και δωσει σοι αυτην
ְהָיָ֞ה כִּֽי־יְבִֽאֲךָ֤ יְהוָה֙ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר נִשְׁבַּ֥ע לְךָ֖ וְלַֽאֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ וּנְתָנָ֖הּ לָֽךְ׃
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring you into the land of the Canaanites, as he swore unto you and to your fathers, and shall give it you,
12 και αφελεις παν διανοιγον μητραν τα αρσενικα τω κυριω παν διανοιγον μητραν εκ των βουκολιων η εν τοις κτηνεσιν σου οσα εαν γενηται σοι τα αρσενικα αγιασεις τω κυριω
ְהַעֲבַרְתָּ֥ כָל־פֶּֽטֶר־רֶ֖חֶם לַֽיהֹוָ֑ה וְכָל־פֶּ֣טֶר ׀ שֶׁ֣גֶר בְּהֵמָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר יִהְיֶ֥ה לְךָ֛ הַזְּכָרִ֖ים לַיהוָֽה׃
That you shall set apart unto the LORD all that opens the womb, and every first born that comes of a beast which you have; the males shall be the LORD's.
13 παν διανοιγον μητραν ονου αλλαξεις προβατω εαν δε μη αλλαξης λυτρωση αυτο παν πρωτοτοκον ανθρωπου των υιων σου λυτρωση
ְכָל־פֶּ֤טֶר חֲמֹר֙ תִּפְדֶּ֣ה בְשֶׂ֔ה וְאִם־לֹ֥א תִפְדֶּ֖ה וַעֲרַפְתּ֑וֹ וְכֹ֨ל בְּכ֥וֹר אָדָ֛ם בְּבָנֶ֖יךָ תִּפְדֶּֽה׃
And every first born of an ass you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among your children shall you redeem.
14 εαν δε ερωτηση σε ο υιος σου μετα ταυτα λεγων τι τουτο και ερεις αυτω οτι εν χειρι κραταια εξηγαγεν ημας κυριος εκ γης αιγυπτου εξ οικου δουλειας
ְהָיָ֞ה כִּֽי־יִשְׁאָלְךָ֥ בִנְךָ֛ מָחָ֖ר לֵאמֹ֣ר מַה־זֹּ֑את וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֵלָ֔יו בְּחֹ֣זֶק יָ֗ד הוֹצִיאָ֧נוּ יְהוָ֛ה מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם מִבֵּ֥ית עֲבָדִֽים׃
And it shall be when your son asks you in time to come, saying, What is this? that you shall say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
15 ηνικα δε εσκληρυνεν φαραω εξαποστειλαι ημας απεκτεινεν παν πρωτοτοκον εν γη αιγυπτω απο πρωτοτοκων ανθρωπων εως πρωτοτοκων κτηνων δια τουτο εγω θυω τω κυριω παν διανοιγον μητραν τα αρσενικα και παν πρωτοτοκον των υιων μου λυτρωσομαι
ַיְהִ֗י כִּֽי־הִקְשָׁ֣ה פַרְעֹה֮ לְשַׁלְּחֵנוּ֒ וַיַּהֲרֹ֨ג יְהֹוָ֤ה כָּל־בְּכוֹר֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם מִבְּכֹ֥ר אָדָ֖ם וְעַד־בְּכ֣וֹר בְּהֵמָ֑ה עַל־כֵּן֩ אֲנִ֨י זֹבֵ֜חַ לַֽיהוָ֗ה כָּל־פֶּ֤טֶר רֶ֙חֶם֙ הַזְּכָרִ֔ים וְכָל־בְּכ֥וֹר בָּנַ֖י אֶפְדֶּֽה׃
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that opens the womb, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
16 και εσται εις σημειον επι της χειρος σου και ασαλευτον προ οφθαλμων σου εν γαρ χειρι κραταια εξηγαγεν σε κυριος εξ αιγυπτου
ְהָיָ֤ה לְאוֹת֙ עַל־יָ֣דְכָ֔ה וּלְטוֹטָפֹ֖ת בֵּ֣ין עֵינֶ֑יךָ כִּ֚י בְּחֹ֣זֶק יָ֔ד הוֹצִיאָ֥נוּ יְהוָ֖ה מִמִּצְרָֽיִם׃ ס
And it shall be for a token upon yours hand, and for frontlets between yours eyes: for by strength of hand the LORD brought us forth out of Egypt.

Crossing the Sea
ως δε εξαπεστειλεν φαραω τον λαον ουχ ωδηγησεν αυτους ο θεος οδον γης φυλιστιιμ οτι εγγυς ην ειπεν γαρ ο θεος μηποτε μεταμεληση τω λαω ιδοντι πολεμον και αποστρεψη εις αιγυπτον
ַיְהִ֗י בְּשַׁלַּ֣ח פַּרְעֹה֮ אֶת־הָעָם֒ וְלֹא־נָחָ֣ם אֱלֹהִ֗ים דֶּ֚רֶךְ אֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים כִּ֥י קָר֖וֹב ה֑וּא כִּ֣י ׀ אָמַ֣ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים פֶּֽן־יִנָּחֵ֥ם הָעָ֛ם בִּרְאֹתָ֥ם מִלְחָמָ֖ה וְשָׁ֥בוּ מִצְרָֽיְמָה׃
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest possibly the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 και εκυκλωσεν ο θεος τον λαον οδον την εις την ερημον εις την ερυθραν θαλασσαν πεμπτη δε γενεα ανεβησαν οι υιοι ισραηλ εκ γης αιγυπτου
ַיַּסֵּ֨ב אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ אֶת־הָעָ֛ם דֶּ֥רֶךְ הַמִּדְבָּ֖ר יַם־ס֑וּף וַחֲמֻשִׁ֛ים עָל֥וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
19 και ελαβεν μωυσης τα οστα ιωσηφ μεθ εαυτου ορκω γαρ ωρκισεν ιωσηφ τους υιους ισραηλ λεγων επισκοπη επισκεψεται υμας κυριος και συνανοισετε μου τα οστα εντευθεν μεθ υμων
ַיִּקַּ֥ח מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶת־עַצְמ֥וֹת יוֹסֵ֖ף עִמּ֑וֹ כִּי֩ הַשְׁבֵּ֨עַ הִשְׁבִּ֜יעַ אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר פָּקֹ֨ד יִפְקֹ֤ד אֱלֹהִים֙ אֶתְכֶ֔ם וְהַעֲלִיתֶ֧ם אֶת־עַצְמֹתַ֛י מִזֶּ֖ה אִתְּכֶֽם׃
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had strictly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and all of you shall carry up my bones away behind with you.
20 εξαραντες δε οι υιοι ισραηλ εκ σοκχωθ εστρατοπεδευσαν εν οθομ παρα την ερημον
ַיִּסְע֖וּ מִסֻּכֹּ֑ת וַיַּחֲנ֣וּ בְאֵתָ֔ם בִּקְצֵ֖ה הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃
And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 ο δε θεος ηγειτο αυτων ημερας μεν εν στυλω νεφελης δειξαι αυτοις την οδον την δε νυκτα εν στυλω πυρος
ַֽיהוָ֡ה הֹלֵךְ֩ לִפְנֵיהֶ֨ם יוֹמָ֜ם בְּעַמּ֤וּד עָנָן֙ לַנְחֹתָ֣ם הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ וְלַ֛יְלָה בְּעַמּ֥וּד אֵ֖שׁ לְהָאִ֣יר לָהֶ֑ם לָלֶ֖כֶת יוֹמָ֥ם וָלָֽיְלָה׃
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
22 ουκ εξελιπεν ο στυλος της νεφελης ημερας και ο στυλος του πυρος νυκτος εναντιον παντος του λαου
ֹֽא־יָמִ֞ישׁ עַמּ֤וּד הֶֽעָנָן֙ יוֹמָ֔ם וְעַמּ֥וּד הָאֵ֖שׁ לָ֑יְלָה לִפְנֵ֖י הָעָֽם׃ פ
He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.
