1 προφασεις ζητει ανηρ βουλομενος χωριζεσθαι απο φιλων εν παντι δε καιρω επονειδιστος εσται
ְֽ֭תַאֲוָה יְבַקֵּ֣שׁ נִפְרָ֑ד בְּכָל־תּ֝וּשִׁיָּ֗ה יִתְגַּלָּֽע׃
Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeks and intermeddles with all wisdom.
2 ου χρειαν εχει σοφιας ενδεης φρενων μαλλον γαρ αγεται αφροσυνη
ֹֽא־יַחְפֹּ֣ץ כְּ֭סִיל בִּתְבוּנָ֑ה כִּ֝֗י אִֽם־בְּהִתְגַּלּ֥וֹת לִבּֽוֹ׃
A fool has no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
3 οταν ελθη ασεβης εις βαθος κακων καταφρονει επερχεται δε αυτω ατιμια και ονειδος
ְּֽבוֹא־רָ֭שָׁע בָּ֣א גַם־בּ֑וּז וְֽעִם־קָל֥וֹן חֶרְפָּֽה׃
When the wicked comes, then comes also contempt, and with dishonour reproach.
4 υδωρ βαθυ λογος εν καρδια ανδρος ποταμος δε αναπηδυει και πηγη ζωης
ַ֣יִם עֲ֭מֻקִּים דִּבְרֵ֣י פִי־אִ֑ישׁ נַ֥חַל נֹ֝בֵ֗עַ מְק֣וֹר חָכְמָֽה׃
The words of a man's mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
5 θαυμασαι προσωπον ασεβους ου καλον ουδε οσιον εκκλινειν το δικαιον εν κρισει
ְׂאֵ֣ת פְּנֵי־רָשָׁ֣ע לֹא־ט֑וֹב לְהַטּ֥וֹת צַ֝דִּ֗יק בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 χειλη αφρονος αγουσιν αυτον εις κακα το δε στομα αυτου το θρασυ θανατον επικαλειται
ִׂפְתֵ֣י כְ֭סִיל יָבֹ֣אֽוּ בְרִ֑יב וּ֝פִ֗יו לְֽמַהֲלֻמ֥וֹת יִקְרָֽא׃
A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for strokes.
7 στομα αφρονος συντριβη αυτω τα δε χειλη αυτου παγις τη ψυχη αυτου
ִּֽי־כְ֭סִיל מְחִתָּה־ל֑וֹ וּ֝שְׂפָתָ֗יו מוֹקֵ֥שׁ נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃
A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 οκνηρους καταβαλλει φοβος ψυχαι δε ανδρογυνων πεινασουσιν
ִּבְרֵ֣י נִ֭רְגָּן כְּמִֽתְלַהֲמִ֑ים וְ֝הֵ֗ם יָרְד֥וּ חַדְרֵי־בָֽטֶן׃
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
9 ο μη ιωμενος εαυτον εν τοις εργοις αυτου αδελφος εστιν του λυμαινομενου εαυτον
ַּ֭ם מִתְרַפֶּ֣ה בִמְלַאכְתּ֑וֹ אָ֥ח ה֝֗וּא לְבַ֣עַל מַשְׁחִֽית׃
He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great destroyer.
10 εκ μεγαλωσυνης ισχυος ονομα κυριου αυτω δε προσδραμοντες δικαιοι υψουνται
ִגְדַּל־עֹ֭ז שֵׁ֣ם יְהוָ֑ה בּֽוֹ־יָר֖וּץ צַדִּ֣יק וְנִשְׂגָּֽב׃
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.
11 υπαρξις πλουσιου ανδρος πολις οχυρα η δε δοξα αυτης μεγα επισκιαζει
֣וֹן עָ֭שִׁיר קִרְיַ֣ת עֻזּ֑וֹ וּכְחוֹמָ֥ה נִ֝שְׂגָּבָ֗ה בְּמַשְׂכִּיתֽוֹ׃
The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
12 προ συντριβης υψουται καρδια ανδρος και προ δοξης ταπεινουται
ִפְנֵי־שֶׁ֭בֶר יִגְבַּ֣הּ לֵב־אִ֑ישׁ וְלִפְנֵ֖י כָב֣וֹד עֲנָוֽ͏ָה׃
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
13 ος αποκρινεται λογον πριν ακουσαι αφροσυνη αυτω εστιν και ονειδος
ֵשִׁ֣יב דָּ֭בָר בְּטֶ֣רֶם יִשְׁמָ֑ע אִוֶּ֥לֶת הִיא־ל֝֗וֹ וּכְלִמָּֽה׃
He that answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame unto him.
14 θυμον ανδρος πραυνει θεραπων φρονιμος ολιγοψυχον δε ανδρα τις υποισει
ֽוּחַ־אִ֭ישׁ יְכַלְכֵּ֣ל מַחֲלֵ֑הוּ וְר֥וּחַ נְ֝כֵאָ֗ה מִ֣י יִשָּׂאֶֽנָּה׃
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
15 καρδια φρονιμου κταται αισθησιν ωτα δε σοφων ζητει εννοιαν
ֵ֣ב נָ֭בוֹן יִקְנֶה־דָּ֑עַת וְאֹ֥זֶן חֲ֝כָמִ֗ים תְּבַקֶּשׁ־דָּֽעַת׃
The heart of the prudent gets knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
16 δομα ανθρωπου εμπλατυνει αυτον και παρα δυνασταις καθιζανει αυτον
ַתָּ֣ן אָ֭דָם יַרְחִ֣יב ל֑וֹ וְלִפְנֵ֖י גְדֹלִ֣ים יַנְחֶֽנּוּ׃
A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.
17 δικαιος εαυτου κατηγορος εν πρωτολογια ως δ αν επιβαλη ο αντιδικος ελεγχεται
ַדִּ֣יק הָרִאשׁ֣וֹן בְּרִיב֑וֹ *יבא־**וּבָֽא־רֵ֝עֵ֗הוּ וַחֲקָרֽוֹ׃
He that is first in his own cause seems just; but his neighbour comes and searches him.
18 αντιλογιας παυει κληρος εν δε δυνασταις οριζει
ִ֭דְיָנִים יַשְׁבִּ֣ית הַגּוֹרָ֑ל וּבֵ֖ין עֲצוּמִ֣ים יַפְרִֽיד׃
The lot causes contentions to cease, and parts between the mighty.
19 αδελφος υπο αδελφου βοηθουμενος ως πολις οχυρα και υψηλη ισχυει δε ωσπερ τεθεμελιωμενον βασιλειον
ָ֗ח נִפְשָׁ֥ע מִקִּרְיַת־עֹ֑ז *ומדונים **וּ֝מִדְיָנִ֗ים כִּבְרִ֥יחַ אַרְמֽוֹן׃
A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20 απο καρπων στοματος ανηρ πιμπλησιν κοιλιαν αυτου απο δε καρπων χειλεων αυτου εμπλησθησεται
ִפְּרִ֣י פִי־אִ֭ישׁ תִּשְׂבַּ֣ע בִּטְנ֑וֹ תְּבוּאַ֖ת שְׂפָתָ֣יו יִשְׂבָּֽע׃
A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 θανατος και ζωη εν χειρι γλωσσης οι δε κρατουντες αυτης εδονται τους καρπους αυτης
ָ֣וֶת וְ֭חַיִּים בְּיַד־לָשׁ֑וֹן וְ֝אֹהֲבֶ֗יהָ יֹאכַ֥ל פִּרְיָֽהּ׃
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
22 ος ευρεν γυναικα αγαθην ευρεν χαριτας ελαβεν δε παρα θεου ιλαροτητα α ος εκβαλλει γυναικα αγαθην εκβαλλει τα αγαθα ο δε κατεχων μοιχαλιδα αφρων και ασεβης
ָצָ֣א אִ֭שָּׁה מָ֣צָא ט֑וֹב וַיָּ֥פֶק רָ֝צ֗וֹן מֵיְהוָֽה׃
Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour of the LORD.
23
ַּחֲנוּנִ֥ים יְדַבֶּר־רָ֑שׁ וְ֝עָשִׁ֗יר יַעֲנֶ֥ה עַזּֽוֹת׃
The poor uses entreaties; but the rich answers roughly.
24
ִ֣ישׁ רֵ֭עִים לְהִתְרֹעֵ֑עַ וְיֵ֥שׁ אֹ֝הֵ֗ב דָּבֵ֥ק מֵאָֽח׃
A man that has friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
