1 υιος σοφος ευφραινει πατερα υιος δε αφρων λυπη τη μητρι
ִשְׁלֵ֗י שְׁלֹ֫מֹ֥ה פ בֵּ֣ן חָ֭כָם יְשַׂמַּח־אָ֑ב וּבֵ֥ן כְּ֝סִ֗יל תּוּגַ֥ת אִמּֽוֹ׃
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2 ουκ ωφελησουσιν θησαυροι ανομους δικαιοσυνη δε ρυσεται εκ θανατου
ֹא־י֭וֹעִילוּ אוֹצְר֣וֹת רֶ֑שַׁע וּ֝צְדָקָ֗ה תַּצִּ֥יל מִמָּֽוֶת׃
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivers from death.
3 ου λιμοκτονησει κυριος ψυχην δικαιαν ζωην δε ασεβων ανατρεψει
ֹֽא־יַרְעִ֣יב יְ֭הוָה נֶ֣פֶשׁ צַדִּ֑יק וְהַוַּ֖ת רְשָׁעִ֣ים יֶהְדֹּֽף׃
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casts away the substance of the wicked.
4 πενια ανδρα ταπεινοι χειρες δε ανδρειων πλουτιζουσιν α υιος πεπαιδευμενος σοφος εσται τω δε αφρονι διακονω χρησεται
ָ֗אשׁ עֹשֶׂ֥ה כַף־רְמִיָּ֑ה וְיַ֖ד חָרוּצִ֣ים תַּעֲשִֽׁיר׃
He becomes poor that deals with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 διεσωθη απο καυματος υιος νοημων ανεμοφθορος δε γινεται εν αμητω υιος παρανομος
ֹגֵ֣ר בַּ֭קַּיִץ בֵּ֣ן מַשְׂכִּ֑יל נִרְדָּ֥ם בַּ֝קָּצִ֗יר בֵּ֣ן מֵבִֽישׁ׃
He that gathers in summer is a wise son: but he that sleeps in harvest is a son that causes shame.
6 ευλογια κυριου επι κεφαλην δικαιου στομα δε ασεβων καλυψει πενθος αωρον
ְּ֭רָכוֹת לְרֹ֣אשׁ צַדִּ֑יק וּפִ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים יְכַסֶּ֥ה חָמָֽס׃
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7 μνημη δικαιων μετ εγκωμιων ονομα δε ασεβους σβεννυται
ֵ֣כֶר צַ֭דִּיק לִבְרָכָ֑ה וְשֵׁ֖ם רְשָׁעִ֣ים יִרְקָֽב׃
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
8 σοφος καρδια δεξεται εντολας ο δε αστεγος χειλεσιν σκολιαζων υποσκελισθησεται
ֲכַם־לֵ֭ב יִקַּ֣ח מִצְוֺ֑ת וֶאֱוִ֥יל שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם יִלָּבֵֽט׃
The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a babbling fool shall fall.
9 ος πορευεται απλως πορευεται πεποιθως ο δε διαστρεφων τας οδους αυτου γνωσθησεται
וֹלֵ֣ךְ בַּ֭תֹּם יֵ֣לֶךְ בֶּ֑טַח וּמְעַקֵּ֥שׁ דְּ֝רָכָ֗יו יִוָּדֵֽעַ׃
He that walks uprightly walks surely: but he that perverts his ways shall be known.
10 ο εννευων οφθαλμοις μετα δολου συναγει ανδρασι λυπας ο δε ελεγχων μετα παρρησιας ειρηνοποιει
ֹ֣רֵֽץ עַ֭יִן יִתֵּ֣ן עַצָּ֑בֶת וֶאֱוִ֥יל שְׂ֝פָתַ֗יִם יִלָּבֵֽט׃
He that winks with the eye causes sorrow: but a babbling fool shall fall.
11 πηγη ζωης εν χειρι δικαιου στομα δε ασεβους καλυψει απωλεια
ְק֣וֹר חַ֭יִּים פִּ֣י צַדִּ֑יק וּפִ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים יְכַסֶּ֥ה חָמָֽס׃
The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12 μισος εγειρει νεικος παντας δε τους μη φιλονεικουντας καλυπτει φιλια
ִׂ֭נְאָה תְּעוֹרֵ֣ר מְדָנִ֑ים וְעַ֥ל כָּל־פְּ֝שָׁעִ֗ים תְּכַסֶּ֥ה אַהֲבָֽה׃
Hatred stirs up strifes: but love covers all sins.
13 ος εκ χειλεων προφερει σοφιαν ραβδω τυπτει ανδρα ακαρδιον
ְּשִׂפְתֵ֣י נָ֭בוֹן תִּמָּצֵ֣א חָכְמָ֑ה וְ֝שֵׁ֗בֶט לְגֵ֣ו חֲסַר־לֵֽב׃
In the lips of him that has understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
14 σοφοι κρυψουσιν αισθησιν στομα δε προπετους εγγιζει συντριβη
ֲכָמִ֥ים יִצְפְּנוּ־דָ֑עַת וּפִֽי־אֱ֝וִיל מְחִתָּ֥ה קְרֹבָֽה׃
Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
15 κτησις πλουσιων πολις οχυρα συντριβη δε ασεβων πενια
֣וֹן עָ֭שִׁיר קִרְיַ֣ת עֻזּ֑וֹ מְחִתַּ֖ת דַּלִּ֣ים רֵישָֽׁם׃
The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 εργα δικαιων ζωην ποιει καρποι δε ασεβων αμαρτιας
ְּעֻלַּ֣ת צַדִּ֣יק לְחַיִּ֑ים תְּבוּאַ֖ת רָשָׁ֣ע לְחַטָּֽאת׃
The labour of the righteous tends to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
17 οδους δικαιας ζωης φυλασσει παιδεια παιδεια δε ανεξελεγκτος πλαναται
ֹ֣רַח לְ֭חַיִּים שׁוֹמֵ֣ר מוּסָ֑ר וְעוֹזֵ֖ב תּוֹכַ֣חַת מַתְעֶֽה׃
He is in the way of life that keeps instruction: but he that refuses reproof errs.
18 καλυπτουσιν εχθραν χειλη δικαια οι δε εκφεροντες λοιδοριας αφρονεστατοι εισιν
ְכַסֶּ֣ה שִׂ֭נְאָה שִׂפְתֵי־שָׁ֑קֶר וּמוֹצִ֥א דִ֝בָּ֗ה ה֣וּא כְסִֽיל׃
He that hides hatred with lying lips, and he that utters a slander, is a fool.
19 εκ πολυλογιας ουκ εκφευξη αμαρτιαν φειδομενος δε χειλεων νοημων εση
ְּרֹ֣ב דְּ֭בָרִים לֹ֣א יֶחְדַּל־פָּ֑שַׁע וְחֹשֵׂ֖ךְ שְׂפָתָ֣יו מַשְׂכִּֽיל׃
In the multitude of words there wants not sin: but he that refrains his lips is wise.
20 αργυρος πεπυρωμενος γλωσσα δικαιου καρδια δε ασεβους εκλειψει
ֶּ֣סֶף נִ֭בְחָר לְשׁ֣וֹן צַדִּ֑יק לֵ֖ב רְשָׁעִ֣ים כִּמְעָֽט׃
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
21 χειλη δικαιων επισταται υψηλα οι δε αφρονες εν ενδεια τελευτωσιν
ִׂפְתֵ֣י צַ֭דִּיק יִרְע֣וּ רַבִּ֑ים וֶֽ֝אֱוִילִ֗ים בַּחֲסַר־לֵ֥ב יָמֽוּתוּ׃
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for lack of wisdom.
22 ευλογια κυριου επι κεφαλην δικαιου αυτη πλουτιζει και ου μη προστεθη αυτη λυπη εν καρδια
ִּרְכַּ֣ת יְ֭הוָה הִ֣יא תַעֲשִׁ֑יר וְלֹֽא־יוֹסִ֖ף עֶ֣צֶב עִמָּֽהּ׃
The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
23 εν γελωτι αφρων πρασσει κακα η δε σοφια ανδρι τικτει φρονησιν
ִּשְׂח֣וֹק לִ֭כְסִיל עֲשׂ֣וֹת זִמָּ֑ה וְ֝חָכְמָ֗ה לְאִ֣ישׁ תְּבוּנָֽה׃
It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding has wisdom.
24 εν απωλεια ασεβης περιφερεται επιθυμια δε δικαιου δεκτη
ְגוֹרַ֣ת רָ֭שָׁע הִ֣יא תְבוֹאֶ֑נּוּ וְתַאֲוַ֖ת צַדִּיקִ֣ים יִתֵּֽן׃
The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 παραπορευομενης καταιγιδος αφανιζεται ασεβης δικαιος δε εκκλινας σωζεται εις τον αιωνα
ַּעֲב֣וֹר ס֭וּפָה וְאֵ֣ין רָשָׁ֑ע וְ֝צַדִּ֗יק יְס֣וֹד עוֹלָֽם׃
As the whirlwind passes, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26 ωσπερ ομφαξ οδουσι βλαβερον και καπνος ομμασιν ουτως παρανομια τοις χρωμενοις αυτην
ַּחֹ֤מֶץ ׀ לַשִּׁנַּ֗יִם וְכֶעָשָׁ֥ן לָעֵינָ֑יִם כֵּ֥ן הֶ֝עָצֵ֗ל לְשֹׁלְחָֽיו׃
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
27 φοβος κυριου προστιθησιν ημερας ετη δε ασεβων ολιγωθησεται
ִרְאַ֣ת יְ֭הוָה תּוֹסִ֣יף יָמִ֑ים וּשְׁנ֖וֹת רְשָׁעִ֣ים תִּקְצֹֽרְנָה׃
The fear of the LORD prolongs days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 εγχρονιζει δικαιοις ευφροσυνη ελπις δε ασεβων ολλυται
ּוֹחֶ֣לֶת צַדִּיקִ֣ים שִׂמְחָ֑ה וְתִקְוַ֖ת רְשָׁעִ֣ים תֹּאבֵֽד׃
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29 οχυρωμα οσιου φοβος κυριου συντριβη δε τοις εργαζομενοις κακα
ָע֣וֹז לַ֭תֹּם דֶּ֣רֶךְ יְהוָ֑ה וּ֝מְחִתָּ֗ה לְפֹ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃
The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
30 δικαιος τον αιωνα ουκ ενδωσει ασεβεις δε ουκ οικησουσιν γην
ַדִּ֣יק לְעוֹלָ֣ם בַּל־יִמּ֑וֹט וּ֝רְשָׁעִ֗ים לֹ֣א יִשְׁכְּנוּ־אָֽרֶץ׃
The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
31 στομα δικαιου αποσταζει σοφιαν γλωσσα δε αδικου εξολειται
ִּֽי־צַ֭דִּיק יָנ֣וּב חָכְמָ֑ה וּלְשׁ֥וֹן תַּ֝הְפֻּכ֗וֹת תִּכָּרֵֽת׃
The mouth of the just brings forth wisdom: but the perverse tongue shall be cut out.
32 χειλη ανδρων δικαιων αποσταζει χαριτας στομα δε ασεβων αποστρεφεται
ִׂפְתֵ֣י צַ֭דִּיק יֵדְע֣וּן רָצ֑וֹן וּפִ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים תַּהְפֻּכֽוֹת׃
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverseness.
