Judgment on Jerusalem and Judah
ιδου δη ο δεσποτης κυριος σαβαωθ αφελει απο της ιουδαιας και απο ιερουσαλημ ισχυοντα και ισχυουσαν ισχυν αρτου και ισχυν υδατος
כִּי֩ הִנֵּ֨ה הָאָד֜וֹן יְהוָ֣ה צְבָא֗וֹת מֵסִ֤יר מִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ וּמִ֣יהוּדָ֔ה מַשְׁעֵ֖ן וּמַשְׁעֵנָ֑ה כֹּ֚ל מִשְׁעַן־לֶ֔חֶם וְכֹ֖ל מִשְׁעַן־מָֽיִם׃
For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, does take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.
2 γιγαντα και ισχυοντα και ανθρωπον πολεμιστην και δικαστην και προφητην και στοχαστην και πρεσβυτερον
גִּבּ֖וֹר וְאִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֑ה שׁוֹפֵ֥ט וְנָבִ֖יא וְקֹסֵ֥ם וְזָקֵֽן׃
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 και πεντηκονταρχον και θαυμαστον συμβουλον και σοφον αρχιτεκτονα και συνετον ακροατην
שַׂר־חֲמִשִּׁ֖ים וּנְשׂ֣וּא פָנִ֑ים וְיוֹעֵ֛ץ וַחֲכַ֥ם חֲרָשִׁ֖ים וּנְב֥וֹן לָֽחַשׁ׃
The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 και επιστησω νεανισκους αρχοντας αυτων και εμπαικται κυριευσουσιν αυτων
וְנָתַתִּ֥י נְעָרִ֖ים שָׂרֵיהֶ֑ם וְתַעֲלוּלִ֖ים יִמְשְׁלוּ־בָֽם׃
And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 και συμπεσειται ο λαος ανθρωπος προς ανθρωπον και ανθρωπος προς τον πλησιον αυτου προσκοψει το παιδιον προς τον πρεσβυτην ο ατιμος προς τον εντιμον
וְנִגַּ֣שׂ הָעָ֔ם אִ֥ישׁ בְּאִ֖ישׁ וְאִ֣ישׁ בְּרֵעֵ֑הוּ יִרְהֲב֗וּ הַנַּ֙עַר֙ בַּזָּקֵ֔ן וְהַנִּקְלֶ֖ה בַּנִּכְבָּֽד׃
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 οτι επιλημψεται ανθρωπος του αδελφου αυτου η του οικειου του πατρος αυτου λεγων ιματιον εχεις αρχηγος ημων γενου και το βρωμα το εμον υπο σε εστω
כִּֽי־יִתְפֹּ֨שׂ אִ֤ישׁ בְּאָחִיו֙ בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֔יו שִׂמְלָ֣ה לְכָ֔ה קָצִ֖ין תִּֽהְיֶה־לָּ֑נוּ וְהַמַּכְשֵׁלָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את תַּ֥חַת יָדֶֽךָ׃
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, You have clothing, be you our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand:
7 και αποκριθεις ερει εν τη ημερα εκεινη ουκ εσομαι σου αρχηγος ου γαρ εστιν εν τω οικω μου αρτος ουδε ιματιον ουκ εσομαι αρχηγος του λαου τουτου
יִשָּׂא֩ בַיּ֨וֹם הַה֤וּא ׀ לֵאמֹר֙ לֹא־אֶהְיֶ֣ה חֹבֵ֔שׁ וּבְבֵיתִ֕י אֵ֥ין לֶ֖חֶם וְאֵ֣ין שִׂמְלָ֑ה לֹ֥א תְשִׂימֻ֖נִי קְצִ֥ין עָֽם׃
In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
8 οτι ανειται ιερουσαλημ και η ιουδαια συμπεπτωκεν και αι γλωσσαι αυτων μετα ανομιας τα προς κυριον απειθουντες διοτι νυν εταπεινωθη η δοξα αυτων
כִּ֤י כָשְׁלָה֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וִיהוּדָ֖ה נָפָ֑ל כִּֽי־לְשׁוֹנָ֤ם וּמַֽעַלְלֵיהֶם֙ אֶל־יְהוָ֔ה לַמְר֖וֹת עֵנֵ֥י כְבוֹדֽוֹ׃
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 και η αισχυνη του προσωπου αυτων αντεστη αυτοις την δε αμαρτιαν αυτων ως σοδομων ανηγγειλαν και ενεφανισαν ουαι τη ψυχη αυτων διοτι βεβουλευνται βουλην πονηραν καθ εαυτων
הַכָּרַ֤ת פְּנֵיהֶם֙ עָ֣נְתָה בָּ֔ם וְחַטָּאתָ֛ם כִּסְדֹ֥ם הִגִּ֖ידוּ לֹ֣א כִחֵ֑דוּ א֣וֹי לְנַפְשָׁ֔ם כִּֽי־גָמְל֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם רָעָֽה׃
The show of their countenance does witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 ειποντες δησωμεν τον δικαιον οτι δυσχρηστος ημιν εστιν τοινυν τα γενηματα των εργων αυτων φαγονται
אִמְר֥וּ צַדִּ֖יק כִּי־ט֑וֹב כִּֽי־פְרִ֥י מַעַלְלֵיהֶ֖ם יֹאכֵֽלוּ׃
Say all of you to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 ουαι τω ανομω πονηρα κατα τα εργα των χειρων αυτου συμβησεται αυτω
א֖וֹי לְרָשָׁ֣ע רָ֑ע כִּֽי־גְמ֥וּל יָדָ֖יו יֵעָ֥שֶׂה לּֽוֹ׃
Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 λαος μου οι πρακτορες υμων καλαμωνται υμας και οι απαιτουντες κυριευουσιν υμων λαος μου οι μακαριζοντες υμας πλανωσιν υμας και τον τριβον των ποδων υμων ταρασσουσιν
עַמִּי֙ נֹגְשָׂ֣יו מְעוֹלֵ֔ל וְנָשִׁ֖ים מָ֣שְׁלוּ ב֑וֹ עַמִּי֙ מְאַשְּׁרֶ֣יךָ מַתְעִ֔ים וְדֶ֥רֶךְ אֹֽרְחֹתֶ֖יךָ בִּלֵּֽעוּ׃ ס
As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead you cause you to go astray, and destroy the way of your paths.
13 αλλα νυν καταστησεται εις κρισιν κυριος και στησει εις κρισιν τον λαον αυτου
נִצָּ֥ב לָרִ֖יב יְהוָ֑ה וְעֹמֵ֖ד לָדִ֥ין עַמִּֽים׃
The LORD stands up to plead, and stands to judge the people.
14 αυτος κυριος εις κρισιν ηξει μετα των πρεσβυτερων του λαου και μετα των αρχοντων αυτου υμεις δε τι ενεπυρισατε τον αμπελωνα μου και η αρπαγη του πτωχου εν τοις οικοις υμων
יְהוָה֙ בְּמִשְׁפָּ֣ט יָב֔וֹא עִם־זִקְנֵ֥י עַמּ֖וֹ וְשָׂרָ֑יו וְאַתֶּם֙ בִּֽעַרְתֶּ֣ם הַכֶּ֔רֶם גְּזֵלַ֥ת הֶֽעָנִ֖י בְּבָתֵּיכֶֽם׃
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for all of you have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 τι υμεις αδικειτε τον λαον μου και το προσωπον των πτωχων καταισχυνετε
*מלכם **מַה־**לָּכֶם֙ תְּדַכְּא֣וּ עַמִּ֔י וּפְנֵ֥י עֲנִיִּ֖ים תִּטְחָ֑נוּ נְאֻם־אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִ֖ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃ ס
What mean all of you that all of you beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? says the Lord GOD of hosts.
16 ταδε λεγει κυριος ανθ ων υψωθησαν αι θυγατερες σιων και επορευθησαν υψηλω τραχηλω και εν νευμασιν οφθαλμων και τη πορεια των ποδων αμα συρουσαι τους χιτωνας και τοις ποσιν αμα παιζουσαι
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יְהוָ֗ה יַ֚עַן כִּ֤י גָֽבְהוּ֙ בְּנ֣וֹת צִיּ֔וֹן וַתֵּלַ֙כְנָה֙ *נטוות **נְטוּי֣וֹת גָּר֔וֹן וּֽמְשַׂקְּר֖וֹת עֵינָ֑יִם הָל֤וֹךְ וְטָפֹף֙ תֵּלַ֔כְנָה וּבְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם תְּעַכַּֽסְנָה׃
Moreover the LORD says, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and moving enticingly as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 και ταπεινωσει ο θεος αρχουσας θυγατερας σιων και κυριος αποκαλυψει το σχημα αυτων
וְשִׂפַּ֣ח אֲדֹנָ֔י קָדְקֹ֖ד בְּנ֣וֹת צִיּ֑וֹן וַיהוָ֖ה פָּתְהֵ֥ן יְעָרֶֽה׃ ס
Therefore the LORD will strike with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
18 εν τη ημερα εκεινη και αφελει κυριος την δοξαν του ιματισμου αυτων και τους κοσμους αυτων και τα εμπλοκια και τους κοσυμβους και τους μηνισκους
בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֜וּא יָסִ֣יר אֲדֹנָ֗י אֵ֣ת תִּפְאֶ֧רֶת הָעֲכָסִ֛ים וְהַשְּׁבִיסִ֖ים וְהַשַּׂהֲרֹנִֽים׃
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
19 και το καθεμα και τον κοσμον του προσωπου αυτων
הַנְּטִיפ֥וֹת וְהַשֵּׁיר֖וֹת וְהָֽרְעָלֽוֹת׃
The chains, and the bracelets, and the covering for the lower part of the face,
20 και την συνθεσιν του κοσμου της δοξης και τους χλιδωνας και τα ψελια και το εμπλοκιον και τα περιδεξια και τους δακτυλιους και τα ενωτια
הַפְּאֵרִ֤ים וְהַצְּעָדוֹת֙ וְהַקִּשֻּׁרִ֔ים וּבָתֵּ֥י הַנֶּ֖פֶשׁ וְהַלְּחָשִֽׁים׃
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 και τα περιπορφυρα και τα μεσοπορφυρα
הַטַּבָּע֖וֹת וְנִזְמֵ֥י הָאָֽף׃
The rings, and nose jewels,
22 και τα επιβληματα τα κατα την οικιαν και τα διαφανη λακωνικα
הַמַּֽחֲלָצוֹת֙ וְהַמַּ֣עֲטָפ֔וֹת וְהַמִּטְפָּח֖וֹת וְהָחֲרִיטִֽים׃
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23 και τα βυσσινα και τα υακινθινα και τα κοκκινα και την βυσσον συν χρυσιω και υακινθω συγκαθυφασμενα και θεριστρα κατακλιτα
וְהַגִּלְיֹנִים֙ וְהַסְּדִינִ֔ים וְהַצְּנִיפ֖וֹת וְהָרְדִידִֽים׃
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24 και εσται αντι οσμης ηδειας κονιορτος και αντι ζωνης σχοινιω ζωση και αντι του κοσμου της κεφαλης του χρυσιου φαλακρωμα εξεις δια τα εργα σου και αντι του χιτωνος του μεσοπορφυρου περιζωση σακκον
וְהָיָה֩ תַ֨חַת בֹּ֜שֶׂם מַ֣ק יִֽהְיֶ֗ה וְתַ֨חַת חֲגוֹרָ֤ה נִקְפָּה֙ וְתַ֨חַת מַעֲשֶׂ֤ה מִקְשֶׁה֙ קָרְחָ֔ה וְתַ֥חַת פְּתִיגִ֖יל מַחֲגֹ֣רֶת שָׂ֑ק כִּי־תַ֖חַת יֹֽפִי׃
And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
25 και ο υιος σου ο καλλιστος ον αγαπας μαχαιρα πεσειται και οι ισχυοντες υμων μαχαιρα πεσουνται
מְתַ֖יִךְ בַּחֶ֣רֶב יִפֹּ֑לוּ וּגְבוּרָתֵ֖ךְ בַּמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
Your men shall fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.
26 και ταπεινωθησονται και πενθησουσιν αι θηκαι του κοσμου υμων και καταλειφθηση μονη και εις την γην εδαφισθηση
וְאָנ֥וּ וְאָבְל֖וּ פְּתָחֶ֑יהָ וְנִקָּ֖תָה לָאָ֥רֶץ תֵּשֵֽׁב׃
And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.
