| 1 | ֽוֹב־רָ֭שׁ הוֹלֵ֣ךְ בְּתֻמּ֑וֹ מֵעִקֵּ֥שׁ שְׂ֝פָתָ֗יו וְה֣וּא כְסִֽיל׃ Better is the poor that walks in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. |

| 2 | ַּ֤ם בְּלֹא־דַ֣עַת נֶ֣פֶשׁ לֹא־ט֑וֹב וְאָ֖ץ בְּרַגְלַ֣יִם חוֹטֵֽא׃ Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hastes with his feet sins. |
| 3 | αφροσυνη ανδρος λυμαινεται τας οδους αυτου τον δε θεον αιτιαται τη καρδια αυτου ִוֶּ֣לֶת אָ֭דָם תְּסַלֵּ֣ף דַּרְכּ֑וֹ וְעַל־יְ֝הוָ֗ה יִזְעַ֥ף לִבּֽוֹ׃ The foolishness of man perverts his way: and his heart frets against the LORD. |
| 4 | πλουτος προστιθησιν φιλους πολλους ο δε πτωχος και απο του υπαρχοντος φιλου λειπεται ֗וֹן יֹ֭סִיף רֵעִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וְ֝דָ֗ל מֵרֵ֥עהוּ יִפָּרֵֽד׃ Wealth makes many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour. |
| 5 | μαρτυς ψευδης ουκ ατιμωρητος εσται ο δε εγκαλων αδικως ου διαφευξεται ֵ֣ד שְׁ֭קָרִים לֹ֣א יִנָּקֶ֑ה וְיָפִ֥יחַ כְּ֝זָבִ֗ים לֹ֣א יִמָּלֵֽט׃ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall not escape. |
| 6 | πολλοι θεραπευουσιν προσωπα βασιλεων πας δε ο κακος γινεται ονειδος ανδρι ַ֭בִּים יְחַלּ֣וּ פְנֵֽי־נָדִ֑יב וְכָל־הָ֝רֵ֗עַ לְאִ֣ישׁ מַתָּֽן׃ Many will implore the favour of the prince: and every man is a friend to him that gives gifts. |
| 7 | πας ος αδελφον πτωχον μισει και φιλιας μακραν εσται εννοια αγαθη τοις ειδοσιν αυτην εγγιει ανηρ δε φρονιμος ευρησει αυτην ο πολλα κακοποιων τελεσιουργει κακιαν ος δε ερεθιζει λογους ου σωθησεται ָּ֥ל אֲחֵי־רָ֨שׁ ׀ שְֽׂנֵאֻ֗הוּ אַ֤ף כִּ֣י מְ֭רֵעֵהוּ רָחֲק֣וּ מִמֶּ֑נּוּ מְרַדֵּ֖ף אֲמָרִ֣ים *לא־**לוֹ־הֵֽמָּה׃ All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursues them with words, yet they are lacking to him. |
| 8 | ο κτωμενος φρονησιν αγαπα εαυτον ος δε φυλασσει φρονησιν ευρησει αγαθα ֹֽנֶה־לֵּ֭ב אֹהֵ֣ב נַפְשׁ֑וֹ שֹׁמֵ֥ר תְּ֝בוּנָ֗ה לִמְצֹא־טֽוֹב׃ He that gets wisdom loves his own soul: he that keeps understanding shall find good. |
| 9 | μαρτυς ψευδης ουκ ατιμωρητος εσται ος δ αν εκκαυση κακιαν απολειται υπ αυτης ֵ֣ד שְׁ֭קָרִים לֹ֣א יִנָּקֶ֑ה וְיָפִ֖יחַ כְּזָבִ֣ים יֹאבֵֽד׃ פ A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaks lies shall perish. |
| 10 | ου συμφερει αφρονι τρυφη και εαν οικετης αρξηται μεθ υβρεως δυναστευειν ֹֽא־נָאוֶ֣ה לִכְסִ֣יל תַּעֲנ֑וּג אַ֝֗ף כִּֽי־לְעֶ֤בֶד ׀ מְשֹׁ֬ל בְּשָׂרִֽים׃ Delight is not suitable for a fool; much less for a servant to have rule over princes. |
| 11 | ελεημων ανηρ μακροθυμει το δε καυχημα αυτου επερχεται παρανομοις ֵׂ֣כֶל אָ֭דָם הֶאֱרִ֣יךְ אַפּ֑וֹ וְ֝תִפאַרְתּ֗וֹ עֲבֹ֣ר עַל־פָּֽשַׁע׃ The discretion of a man defers his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. |
| 12 | βασιλεως απειλη ομοια βρυγμω λεοντος ωσπερ δε δροσος επι χορτω ουτως το ιλαρον αυτου ַ֣הַם כַּ֭כְּפִיר זַ֣עַף מֶ֑לֶךְ וּכְטַ֖ל עַל־עֵ֣שֶׂב רְצוֹנֽוֹ׃ The king's wrath is as the roaring of a lion; but his favour is as dew upon the grass. |
| 13 | αισχυνη πατρι υιος αφρων και ουχ αγναι ευχαι απο μισθωματος εταιρας ַוֺּ֣ת לְ֭אָבִיו בֵּ֣ן כְּסִ֑יל וְדֶ֥לֶף טֹ֝רֵ֗ד מִדְיְנֵ֥י אִשָּֽׁה׃ A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping. |
| 14 | οικον και υπαρξιν μεριζουσιν πατερες παισιν παρα δε θεου αρμοζεται γυνη ανδρι ַּ֣יִת וָ֭הוֹן נַחֲלַ֣ת אָב֑וֹת וּ֝מֵיְהוָ֗ה אִשָּׁ֥ה מַשְׂכָּֽלֶת׃ House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD. |
| 15 | δειλια κατεχει ανδρογυναιον ψυχη δε αεργου πεινασει ַ֭צְלָה תַּפִּ֣יל תַּרְדֵּמָ֑ה וְנֶ֖פֶשׁ רְמִיָּ֣ה תִרְעָֽב׃ Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger. |
| 16 | ος φυλασσει εντολην τηρει την εαυτου ψυχην ο δε καταφρονων των εαυτου οδων απολειται ֹׁמֵ֣ר מִ֭צְוָה שֹׁמֵ֣ר נַפְשׁ֑וֹ בּוֹזֵ֖ה דְרָכָ֣יו *יומת **יָמֽוּת׃ He that keeps the commandment keeps his own soul; but he that despises his ways shall die. |
| 17 | δανιζει θεω ο ελεων πτωχον κατα δε το δομα αυτου ανταποδωσει αυτω ַלְוֵ֣ה יְ֭הוָה ח֣וֹנֵֽן דָּ֑ל וּ֝גְמֻל֗וֹ יְשַׁלֶּם־לֽוֹ׃ He that has pity upon the poor lends unto the LORD; and that which he has given will he pay him again. |
| 18 | παιδευε υιον σου ουτως γαρ εσται ευελπις εις δε υβριν μη επαιρου τη ψυχη σου ַסֵּ֣ר בִּ֭נְךָ כִּי־יֵ֣שׁ תִּקְוָ֑ה וְאֶל־הֲ֝מִית֗וֹ אַל־תִּשָּׂ֥א נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃ Chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying. |
| 19 | κακοφρων ανηρ πολλα ζημιωθησεται εαν δε λοιμευηται και την ψυχην αυτου προσθησει ?רל־**גְּֽדָל־חֵ֭מָה נֹ֣שֵׂא עֹ֑נֶשׁ כִּ֥י אִם־תַּ֝צִּ֗יל וְע֣וֹד תּוֹסִֽף׃ A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if you deliver him, yet you must do it again. |
| 20 | ακουε υιε παιδειαν πατρος σου ινα σοφος γενη επ εσχατων σου ְׁמַ֣ע עֵ֭צָה וְקַבֵּ֣ל מוּסָ֑ר לְ֝מַ֗עַן תֶּחְכַּ֥ם בְּאַחֲרִיתֶֽךָ׃ Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end. |
| 21 | πολλοι λογισμοι εν καρδια ανδρος η δε βουλη του κυριου εις τον αιωνα μενει ַבּ֣וֹת מַחֲשָׁב֣וֹת בְּלֶב־אִ֑ישׁ וַעֲצַ֥ת יְ֝הוָ֗ה הִ֣יא תָקֽוּם׃ There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand. |
| 22 | καρπος ανδρι ελεημοσυνη κρεισσων δε πτωχος δικαιος η πλουσιος ψευστης ַּאֲוַ֣ת אָדָ֣ם חַסְדּ֑וֹ וְטֽוֹב־רָ֝שׁ מֵאִ֥ישׁ כָּזָֽב׃ The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. |
| 23 | φοβος κυριου εις ζωην ανδρι ο δε αφοβος αυλισθησεται εν τοποις ου ουκ επισκοπειται γνωσις ִרְאַ֣ת יְהוָ֣ה לְחַיִּ֑ים וְשָׂבֵ֥עַ יָ֝לִ֗ין בַּל־יִפָּ֥קֶד רָֽע׃ The fear of the LORD tends to life: and he that has it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil. |
| 24 | ο εγκρυπτων εις τον κολπον αυτου χειρας αδικως ουδε τω στοματι ου μη προσαγαγη αυτας ָ֘מַ֤ן עָצֵ֣ל יָ֭דוֹ בַּצַּלָּ֑חַת גַּם־אֶל־פִּ֝֗יהוּ לֹ֣א יְשִׁיבֶֽנָּה׃ A slothful man hides his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. |
| 25 | λοιμου μαστιγουμενου αφρων πανουργοτερος γινεται εαν δε ελεγχης ανδρα φρονιμον νοησει αισθησιν ֵ֣ץ תַּ֭כֶּה וּפֶ֣תִי יַעְרִ֑ם וְהוֹכִ֥יחַ לְ֝נָב֗וֹן יָבִ֥ין דָּֽעַת׃ Strike a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge. |
| 26 | ο ατιμαζων πατερα και απωθουμενος μητερα αυτου καταισχυνθησεται και επονειδιστος εσται ְֽשַׁדֶּד־אָ֭ב יַבְרִ֣יחַ אֵ֑ם בֵּ֝֗ן מֵבִ֥ישׁ וּמַחְפִּֽיר׃ He that wastes his father, and chases away his mother, is a son that causes shame, and brings reproach. |
| 27 | υιος απολειπομενος φυλαξαι παιδειαν πατρος μελετησει ρησεις κακας ַֽדַל־בְּ֭נִי לִשְׁמֹ֣עַ מוּסָ֑ר לִ֝שְׁג֗וֹת מֵֽאִמְרֵי־דָֽעַת׃ Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causes to go astray from the words of knowledge. |
| 28 | ο εγγυωμενος παιδα αφρονα καθυβριζει δικαιωμα στομα δε ασεβων καταπιεται κρισεις ֵ֣ד בְּ֭לִיַּעַל יָלִ֣יץ מִשְׁפָּ֑ט וּפִ֥י רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים יְבַלַּע־אָֽוֶן׃ An ungodly witness scorns judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity. |
| 29 | ετοιμαζονται ακολαστοις μαστιγες και τιμωριαι ωμοις αφρονων ָכ֣וֹנוּ לַלֵּצִ֣ים שְׁפָטִ֑ים וּ֝מַהֲלֻמ֗וֹת לְגֵ֣ו כְּסִילִֽים׃ Judgments are prepared for scorners, and stripes for the back of fools. |
