The Song of Deborah
και ησεν δεββωρα και βαρακ υιος αβινεεμ εν τη ημερα εκεινη και ειπεν
וַתָּ֣שַׁר דְּבוֹרָ֔ה וּבָרָ֖ק בֶּן־אֲבִינֹ֑עַם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַה֖וּא לֵאמֹֽר׃
Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,
2 εν τω αρξασθαι αρχηγους εν ισραηλ εν προαιρεσει λαου ευλογειτε τον κυριον
בִּפְרֹ֤עַ פְּרָעוֹת֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּהִתְנַדֵּ֖ב עָ֑ם בָּרֲכ֖וּ יְהוָֽה׃
Praise all of you the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.
3 ακουσατε βασιλεις ενωτιζεσθε σατραπαι δυνατοι εγω τω κυριω ασομαι ψαλω τω θεω ισραηλ
שִׁמְע֣וּ מְלָכִ֔ים הַאֲזִ֖ינוּ רֹֽזְנִ֑ים אֽ͏ָנֹכִ֗י לַֽיהוָה֙ אָנֹכִ֣י אָשִׁ֔ירָה אֲזַמֵּ֕ר לַֽיהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
Hear, O all of you kings; give ear, O all of you princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.
4 κυριε εν τη εξοδω σου εκ σηιρ εν τω απαιρειν σε εξ αγρου εδωμ γη εσεισθη και ο ουρανος εξεσταθη και αι νεφελαι εσταξαν υδωρ
יְהוָ֗ה בְּצֵאתְךָ֤ מִשֵּׂעִיר֙ בְּצַעְדְּךָ֙ מִשְּׂדֵ֣ה אֱד֔וֹם אֶ֣רֶץ רָעָ֔שָׁה גַּם־שָׁמַ֖יִם נָטָ֑פוּ גַּם־עָבִ֖ים נָ֥טְפוּ מָֽיִם׃
LORD, when you went out of Seir, when you marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.
5 ορη εσαλευθησαν απο προσωπου κυριου τουτο σινα απο προσωπου κυριου θεου ισραηλ
הָרִ֥ים נָזְל֖וּ מִפְּנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה זֶ֣ה סִינַ֔י מִפְּנֵ֕י יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.
6 εν ημεραις σαμεγαρ υιου αναθ εν ημεραις ιαηλ εξελιπον βασιλεις και επορευθησαν τριβους επορευθησαν οδους διεστραμμενας
בִּימֵ֞י שַׁמְגַּ֤ר בֶּן־עֲנָת֙ בִּימֵ֣י יָעֵ֔ל חָדְל֖וּ אֳרָח֑וֹת וְהֹלְכֵ֣י נְתִיב֔וֹת יֵלְכ֕וּ אֳרָח֖וֹת עֲקַלְקַלּֽוֹת׃
In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.
7 εξελιπεν φραζων εν τω ισραηλ εξελιπεν εως ου εξανεστη δεββωρα οτι ανεστη μητηρ εν τω ισραηλ
חָדְל֧וּ פְרָז֛וֹן בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל חָדֵ֑לּוּ עַ֤ד שַׁקַּ֙מְתִּי֙ דְּבוֹרָ֔ה שַׁקַּ֥מְתִּי אֵ֖ם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.
8 ηρετισαν θεους καινους ως αρτον κριθινον σκεπην εαν ιδω σιρομαστων εν τεσσαρακοντα χιλιασιν
יִבְחַר֙ אֱלֹהִ֣ים חֲדָשִׁ֔ים אָ֖ז לָחֶ֣ם שְׁעָרִ֑ים מָגֵ֤ן אִם־יֵֽרָאֶה֙ וָרֹ֔מַח בְּאַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?
9 η καρδια μου επι τα διατεταγμενα τω ισραηλ οι δυνασται του λαου ευλογειτε τον κυριον
לִבִּי֙ לְחוֹקְקֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הַמִּֽתְנַדְּבִ֖ים בָּעָ֑ם בָּרֲכ֖וּ יְהוָֽה׃
My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless all of you the LORD.
10 επιβεβηκοτες επι υποζυγιων καθημενοι επι λαμπηνων
רֹכְבֵי֩ אֲתֹנ֨וֹת צְחֹר֜וֹת יֹשְׁבֵ֧י עַל־מִדִּ֛ין וְהֹלְכֵ֥י עַל־דֶּ֖רֶךְ שִֽׂיחוּ׃
Speak, all of you that ride on white asses, all of you that sit in judgment, and walk by the way.
11 φθεγξασθε φωνην ανακρουομενων ανα μεσον ευφραινομενων εκει δωσουσιν δικαιοσυνην κυριω δικαιοι ενισχυσαν εν τω ισραηλ τοτε κατεβη εις τας πολεις αυτου ο λαος κυριου
מִקּ֣וֹל מְחַֽצְצִ֗ים בֵּ֚ין מַשְׁאַבִּ֔ים שָׁ֤ם יְתַנּוּ֙ צִדְק֣וֹת יְהוָ֔ה צִדְקֹ֥ת פִּרְזֹנ֖וֹ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אָ֛ז יָרְד֥וּ לַשְּׁעָרִ֖ים עַם־יְהוָֽה׃
They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.
12 εξεγειρου εξεγειρου δεββωρα εξεγειρον μυριαδας μετα λαου εξεγειρου εξεγειρου λαλει μετ ωδης ενισχυων εξανιστασο βαρακ και ενισχυσον δεββωρα τον βαρακ αιχμαλωτιζε αιχμαλωσιαν σου υιος αβινεεμ
עוּרִ֤י עוּרִי֙ דְּבוֹרָ֔ה ע֥וּרִי ע֖וּרִי דַּבְּרִי־שִׁ֑יר ק֥וּם בָּרָ֛ק וּֽשֲׁבֵ֥ה שֶׁבְיְךָ֖ בֶּן־אֲבִינֹֽעַם׃
Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead your captivity captive, you son of Abinoam.
13 ποτε εμεγαλυνθη η ισχυς αυτου κυριε ταπεινωσον μοι τους ισχυροτερους μου
אָ֚ז יְרַ֣ד שָׂרִ֔יד לְאַדִּירִ֖ים עָ֑ם יְהוָ֕ה יְרַד־לִ֖י בַּגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃
Then he made him that remains have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.
14 λαος εφραιμ ετιμωρησατο αυτους εν κοιλαδι αδελφου σου βενιαμιν εν λαοις σου εξ εμου μαχιρ κατεβησαν εξερευνωντες και εκ ζαβουλων κυριος επολεμει μοι εν δυνατοις εκειθεν εν σκηπτρω ενισχυοντος ηγησεως
מִנִּ֣י אֶפְרַ֗יִם שָׁרְשָׁם֙ בַּעֲמָלֵ֔ק אַחֲרֶ֥יךָ בִנְיָמִ֖ין בּֽ͏ַעֲמָמֶ֑יךָ מִנִּ֣י מָכִ֗יר יָֽרְדוּ֙ מְחֹ֣קְקִ֔ים וּמִ֨זְּבוּלֻ֔ן מֹשְׁכִ֖ים בְּשֵׁ֥בֶט סֹפֵֽר׃
Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after you, Benjamin, among your people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.
15 εν ισσαχαρ μετα δεββωρας εξαπεστειλεν πεζους αυτου εις την κοιλαδα ινα τι συ κατοικεις εν μεσω χειλεων εξετεινεν εν τοις ποσιν αυτου εν διαιρεσεσιν ρουβην μεγαλοι ακριβασμοι καρδιας
וְשָׂרַ֤י בְּיִשָּׂשכָר֙ עִם־דְּבֹרָ֔ה וְיִשָּׂשכָר֙ כֵּ֣ן בָּרָ֔ק בָּעֵ֖מֶק שֻׁלַּ֣ח בְּרַגְלָ֑יו בִּפְלַגּ֣וֹת רְאוּבֵ֔ן גְּדֹלִ֖ים חִקְקֵי־לֵֽב׃
And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.
16 ινα τι μοι καθησαι ανα μεσον των μοσφαθαιμ του εισακουειν συρισμους εξεγειροντων του διελθειν εις τα του ρουβην μεγαλοι εξιχνιασμοι καρδιας
לָ֣מָּה יָשַׁ֗בְתָּ בֵּ֚ין הַֽמִּשְׁפְּתַ֔יִם לִשְׁמֹ֖עַ שְׁרִק֣וֹת עֲדָרִ֑ים לִפְלַגּ֣וֹת רְאוּבֵ֔ן גְּדוֹלִ֖ים חִקְרֵי־לֵֽב׃
Why abode you among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.
17 γαλααδ εν τω περαν του ιορδανου κατεσκηνωσεν και δαν ινα τι παροικει πλοιοις ασηρ παρωκησεν παρ αιγιαλον θαλασσων και επι τας διακοπας αυτου κατεσκηνωσεν
גִּלְעָ֗ד בְּעֵ֤בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ שָׁכֵ֔ן וְדָ֕ן לָ֥מָּה יָג֖וּר אֳנִיּ֑וֹת אָשֵׁ֗ר יָשַׁב֙ לְח֣וֹף יַמִּ֔ים וְעַ֥ל מִפְרָצָ֖יו יִשְׁכּֽוֹן׃
Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.
18 ζαβουλων λαος ονειδισας ψυχην αυτου εις θανατον και νεφθαλιμ επι υψη αγρου
זְבֻל֗וּן עַ֣ם חֵרֵ֥ף נַפְשׁ֛וֹ לָמ֖וּת וְנַפְתָּלִ֑י עַ֖ל מְרוֹמֵ֥י שָׂדֶֽה׃
Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeopardized their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.
19 ηλθον βασιλεις και παρεταξαντο τοτε επολεμησαν βασιλεις χανααν εν θενναχ επι υδατος μαγεδδω πλεονεξιαν αργυριου ουκ ελαβον
בָּ֤אוּ מְלָכִים֙ נִלְחָ֔מוּ אָ֤ז נִלְחֲמוּ֙ מַלְכֵ֣י כְנַ֔עַן בְּתַעְנַ֖ךְ עַל־מֵ֣י מְגִדּ֑וֹ בֶּ֥צַע כֶּ֖סֶף לֹ֥א לָקָֽחוּ׃
The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.
20 εκ του ουρανου επολεμησαν αστερες εκ της ταξεως αυτων επολεμησαν μετα σισαρα
מִן־שָׁמַ֖יִם נִלְחָ֑מוּ הַכּֽוֹכָבִים֙ מִמְּסִלּוֹתָ֔ם נִלְחֲמ֖וּ עִם־סִיסְרָֽא׃
They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.
21 χειμαρρους κισων εξεβαλεν αυτους χειμαρρους καδημιμ χειμαρρους κισων καταπατησει αυτους ψυχη μου δυνατη
נַ֤חַל קִישׁוֹן֙ גְּרָפָ֔ם נַ֥חַל קְדוּמִ֖ים נַ֣חַל קִישׁ֑וֹן תִּדְרְכִ֥י נַפְשִׁ֖י עֹֽז׃
The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, you have trodden down strength.
22 τοτε απεκοπησαν πτερναι ιππου αμαδαρωθ δυνατων αυτου
אָ֥ז הָלְמ֖וּ עִקְּבֵי־ס֑וּס מִֽדַּהֲר֖וֹת דַּהֲר֥וֹת אַבִּירָֽיו׃
Then were the horse-hoofs broken by the means of the prancings, the prancings of their mighty ones.
23 καταρασασθε μαρωζ ειπεν ο αγγελος κυριου καταρασει καταρασασθε τους ενοικους αυτης οτι ουκ ηλθοσαν εις την βοηθειαν κυριου βοηθος ημων κυριος εν μαχηταις δυνατος
א֣וֹרוּ מֵר֗וֹז אָמַר֙ מַלְאַ֣ךְ יְהוָ֔ה אֹ֥רוּ אָר֖וֹר יֹשְׁבֶ֑יהָ כִּ֤י לֹֽא־בָ֙אוּ֙ לְעֶזְרַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה לְעֶזְרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה בַּגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃
Curse all of you Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse all of you bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.
24 ευλογηθειη εκ γυναικων ιαηλ γυνη χαβερ του κιναιου εκ γυναικων εν σκηνη ευλογηθειη
תְּבֹרַךְ֙ מִנָּשִׁ֔ים יָעֵ֕ל אֵ֖שֶׁת חֶ֣בֶר הַקֵּינִ֑י מִנָּשִׁ֥ים בָּאֹ֖הֶל תְּבֹרָֽךְ׃
Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.
25 υδωρ ητησεν αυτην και γαλα εδωκεν αυτω εν λακανη ισχυρων προσηγγισεν βουτυρον
מַ֥יִם שָׁאַ֖ל חָלָ֣ב נָתָ֑נָה בְּסֵ֥פֶל אַדִּירִ֖ים הִקְרִ֥יבָה חֶמְאָֽה׃
He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.
26 την χειρα αυτης την αριστεραν εις πασσαλον εξετεινεν την δεξιαν αυτης εις αποτομας κατακοπων και απετεμεν σισαρα απετριψεν την κεφαλην αυτου και συνεθλασεν και διηλασεν την γναθον αυτου
יָדָהּ֙ לַיָּתֵ֣ד תִּשְׁלַ֔חְנָה וִֽימִינָ֖הּ לְהַלְמ֣וּת עֲמֵלִ֑ים וְהָלְמָ֤ה סִֽיסְרָא֙ מָחֲקָ֣ה רֹאשׁ֔וֹ וּמָחֲצָ֥ה וְחָלְפָ֖ה רַקָּתֽוֹ׃
She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she stroke Sisera, she stroke off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.
27 ανα μεσον των ποδων αυτης συγκαμψας επεσεν εκοιμηθη μεταξυ ποδων αυτης εν ω εκαμψεν εκει επεσεν ταλαιπωρος
בֵּ֣ין רַגְלֶ֔יהָ כָּרַ֥ע נָפַ֖ל שָׁכָ֑ב בֵּ֤ין רַגְלֶ֙יהָ֙ כָּרַ֣ע נָפָ֔ל בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּרַ֔ע שָׁ֖ם נָפַ֥ל שָׁדֽוּד׃
At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.
28 δια της θυριδος διεκυπτεν η μητηρ σισαρα δια της δικτυωτης επιβλεπουσα επι τους μεταστρεφοντας μετα σισαρα δια τι ησχατισεν το αρμα αυτου παραγενεσθαι δια τι εχρονισαν ιχνη αρματων αυτου
בְּעַד֩ הַחַלּ֨וֹן נִשְׁקְפָ֧ה וַתְּיַבֵּ֛ב אֵ֥ם סִֽיסְרָ֖א בְּעַ֣ד הֽ͏ָאֶשְׁנָ֑ב מַדּ֗וּעַ בֹּשֵׁ֤שׁ רִכְבּוֹ֙ לָב֔וֹא מַדּ֣וּעַ אֶֽחֱר֔וּ פַּעֲמֵ֖י מַרְכְּבוֹתָֽיו׃
The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?
29 σοφαι αρχουσων αυτης ανταπεκριναντο προς αυτην και αυτη απεκρινατο εν ρημασιν αυτης
חַכְמ֥וֹת שָׂרוֹתֶ֖יהָ תַּעֲנֶ֑ינָּה אַף־הִ֕יא תָּשִׁ֥יב אֲמָרֶ֖יהָ לָֽהּ׃
Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,
30 ουχι ευρησουσιν αυτον διαμεριζοντα σκυλα φιλιαζων φιλοις εις κεφαλην δυνατου σκυλα βαμματων σισαρα σκυλα βαμματων ποικιλιας βαφη ποικιλων περι τραχηλον αυτου σκυλον
הֲלֹ֨א יִמְצְא֜וּ יְחַלְּק֣וּ שָׁלָ֗ל רַ֤חַם רַחֲמָתַ֙יִם֙ לְרֹ֣אשׁ גֶּ֔בֶר שְׁלַ֤ל צְבָעִים֙ לְסִ֣יסְרָ֔א שְׁלַ֥ל צְבָעִ֖ים רִקְמָ֑ה צֶ֥בַע רִקְמָתַ֖יִם לְצַוְּארֵ֥י שָׁלָֽל׃
Have they not succeeded? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?
31 ουτως απολοιντο παντες οι εχθροι σου κυριε και οι αγαπωντες αυτον καθως η ανατολη του ηλιου εν δυναστειαις αυτου και ησυχασεν η γη τεσσαρακοντα ετη
כֵּ֠ן יֹאבְד֤וּ כָל־אוֹיְבֶ֙יךָ֙ יְהוָ֔ה וְאֹ֣הֲבָ֔יו כְּצֵ֥את הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ בִּגְבֻרָת֑וֹ וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט הָאָ֖רֶץ אַרְבָּעִ֥ים שָׁנָֽה׃ פ
So let all yours enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goes forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
