1 ει εγνως καιρον τοκετου τραγελαφων πετρας εφυλαξας δε ωδινας ελαφων
ֲיָדַ֗עְתָּ עֵ֭ת לֶ֣דֶת יַעֲלֵי־סָ֑לַע חֹלֵ֖ל אַיָּל֣וֹת תִּשְׁמֹֽר׃
Know you the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? or can you mark when the hinds do calve?
2 ηριθμησας δε αυτων μηνας πληρεις τοκετου ωδινας δε αυτων ελυσας
ִּסְפֹּ֣ר יְרָחִ֣ים תְּמַלֶּ֑אנָה וְ֝יָדַ֗עְתָּ עֵ֣ת לִדְתָּֽנָה׃
Can you number the months that they fulfill? or know you the time when they bring forth?
3 εξεθρεψας δε αυτων τα παιδια εξω φοβου ωδινας αυτων εξαποστελεις
ִּ֭כְרַעְנָה יַלְדֵיהֶ֣ן תְּפַלַּ֑חְנָה חֶבְלֵיהֶ֥ם תְּשַׁלַּֽחְנָה׃
They bow themselves, they bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows.
4 απορρηξουσιν τα τεκνα αυτων πληθυνθησονται εν γενηματι εξελευσονται και ου μη ανακαμψουσιν αυτοις
ַחְלְמ֣וּ בְ֭נֵיהֶם יִרְבּ֣וּ בַבָּ֑ר יָ֝צְא֗וּ וְלֹא־שָׁ֥בוּ לָֽמוֹ׃
Their young ones are in good looking, they grow up with corn; they go forth, and return not unto them.
5 τις δε εστιν ο αφεις ονον αγριον ελευθερον δεσμους δε αυτου τις ελυσεν
ִֽי־שִׁלַּ֣ח פֶּ֣רֶא חָפְשִׁ֑י וּמֹסְר֥וֹת עָ֝ר֗וֹד מִ֣י פִתֵּֽחַ׃
Who has sent out the wild ass free? or who has loosed the bands of the wild ass?
6 εθεμην δε την διαιταν αυτου ερημον και τα σκηνωματα αυτου αλμυριδα
ֲשֶׁר־שַׂ֣מְתִּי עֲרָבָ֣ה בֵית֑וֹ וּֽמִשְׁכְּנוֹתָ֥יו מְלֵֽחָה׃
Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the barren land his dwellings.
7 καταγελων πολυοχλιας πολεως μεμψιν δε φορολογου ουκ ακουων
ִ֭שְׂחַק לַהֲמ֣וֹן קִרְיָ֑ה תְּשֻׁא֥וֹת נ֝וֹגֵ֗שׂ לֹ֣א יִשְׁמָֽע׃
He scorns the multitude of the city, neither regards he the crying of the driver.
8 κατασκεψεται ορη νομην αυτου και οπισω παντος χλωρου ζητει
ְת֣וּר הָרִ֣ים מִרְעֵ֑הוּ וְאַחַ֖ר כָּל־יָר֣וֹק יִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃
The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searches after every green thing.
9 βουλησεται δε σοι μονοκερως δουλευσαι η κοιμηθηναι επι φατνης σου
ֲיֹ֣אבֶה רֵּ֣ים עָבְדֶ֑ךָ אִם־יָ֝לִ֗ין עַל־אֲבוּסֶֽךָ׃
Will the unicorn be willing to serve you, or abide by your crib?
10 δησεις δε εν ιμασι ζυγον αυτου η ελκυσει σου αυλακας εν πεδιω
ֲ‍ֽתִקְשָׁר־רֵ֭ים בְּתֶ֣לֶם עֲבֹת֑וֹ אִם־יְשַׂדֵּ֖ד עֲמָקִ֣ים אַחֲרֶֽיךָ׃
Can you bind the unicorn with his band in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after you?
11 πεποιθας δε επ αυτω οτι πολλη η ισχυς αυτου επαφησεις δε αυτω τα εργα σου
ֲֽתִבְטַח־בּ֭וֹ כִּי־רַ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ וְתַעֲזֹ֖ב אֵלָ֣יו יְגִיעֶֽךָ׃
Will you trust him, because his strength is great? or will you leave your labour to him?
12 πιστευσεις δε οτι αποδωσει σοι τον σπορον εισοισει δε σου τον αλωνα
ֲתַאֲמִ֣ין בּ֭וֹ כִּי־*ישוב **יָשִׁ֣יב זַרְעֶ֑ךָ וְֽגָרְנְךָ֥ יֶאֱסֹֽף׃
Will you believe him, that he will bring home your seed, and gather it into your barn?
13 πτερυξ τερπομενων νεελασα εαν συλλαβη ασιδα και νεσσα
ְּנַף־רְנָנִ֥ים נֶעֱלָ֑סָה אִם־אֶ֝בְרָ֗ה חֲסִידָ֥ה וְנֹצָֽה׃
Gave you the goodly wings unto the peacocks? or wings and feathers unto the ostrich?
14 οτι αφησει εις γην τα ωα αυτης και επι χουν θαλψει
ִּֽי־תַעֲזֹ֣ב לָאָ֣רֶץ בֵּצֶ֑יהָ וְֽעַל־עָפָ֥ר תְּחַמֵּֽם׃
Which left her eggs in the earth, and warms them in dust,
15 και επελαθετο οτι πους σκορπιει και θηρια αγρου καταπατησει
ַ֭תִּשְׁכַּח כִּי־רֶ֣גֶל תְּזוּרֶ֑הָ וְחַיַּ֖ת הַשָּׂדֶ֣ה תְּדוּשֶֽׁהָ׃
And forgets that the foot may crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
16 απεσκληρυνεν τα τεκνα αυτης ωστε μη εαυτη εις κενον εκοπιασεν ανευ φοβου
ִקְשִׁ֣יחַ בָּנֶ֣יהָ לְּלֹא־לָ֑הּ לְרִ֖יק יְגִיעָ֣הּ בְּלִי־פָֽחַד׃
She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not her's: her labour is in vain without fear;
17 οτι κατεσιωπησεν αυτη ο θεος σοφιαν και ουκ εμερισεν αυτη εν τη συνεσει
ִּֽי־הִשָּׁ֣הּ אֱל֣וֹהַּ חָכְמָ֑ה וְלֹא־חָ֥לַק לָ֝֗הּ בַּבִּינָֽה׃
Because God has deprived her of wisdom, neither has he imparted to her understanding.
18 κατα καιρον εν υψει υψωσει καταγελασεται ιππου και του επιβατου αυτου
ָּ֭עֵת בַּמָּר֣וֹם תַּמְרִ֑יא תִּֽשְׂחַ֥ק לַ֝סּ֗וּס וּלְרֹֽכְבֽוֹ׃
What time she lifts up herself on high, she scorns the horse and his rider.
19 η συ περιεθηκας ιππω δυναμιν ενεδυσας δε τραχηλω αυτου φοβον
ֲתִתֵּ֣ן לַסּ֣וּס גְּבוּרָ֑ה הֲתַלְבִּ֖ישׁ צַוָּאר֣וֹ רַעְמָֽה׃
Have you given the horse strength? have you clothed his neck with thunder?
20 περιεθηκας δε αυτω πανοπλιαν δοξαν δε στηθεων αυτου τολμη
ְֽ֭תַרְעִישֶׁנּוּ כָּאַרְבֶּ֑ה ה֖וֹד נַחְר֣וֹ אֵימָֽה׃
Can you make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
21 ανορυσσων εν πεδιω γαυρια εκπορευεται δε εις πεδιον εν ισχυι
ַחְפְּר֣וּ בָ֭עֵמֶק וְיָשִׂ֣ישׂ בְּכֹ֑חַ יֵ֝צֵ֗א לִקְרַאת־נָֽשֶׁק׃
He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength: he goes on to meet the armed men.
22 συναντων βελει καταγελα και ου μη αποστραφη απο σιδηρου
ִשְׂחַ֣ק לְ֭פַחַד וְלֹ֣א יֵחָ֑ת וְלֹֽא־יָ֝שׁ֗וּב מִפְּנֵי־חָֽרֶב׃
He mocks at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turns he back from the sword.
23 επ αυτω γαυρια τοξον και μαχαιρα
ָ֭לָיו תִּרְנֶ֣ה אַשְׁפָּ֑ה לַ֖הַב חֲנִ֣ית וְכִידֽוֹן׃
The quiver rattles against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
24 και οργη αφανιει την γην και ου μη πιστευση εως αν σημανη σαλπιγξ
ְּרַ֣עַשׁ וְ֭רֹגֶז יְגַמֶּא־אָ֑רֶץ וְלֹֽא־יַ֝אֲמִ֗ין כִּי־ק֥וֹל שׁוֹפָֽר׃
He swallows the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believes he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
25 σαλπιγγος δε σημαινουσης λεγει ευγε πορρωθεν δε οσφραινεται πολεμου συν αλματι και κραυγη
ְּדֵ֤י שֹׁפָ֨ר ׀ יֹ֘אמַ֤ר הֶאָ֗ח וּֽ֭מֵרָחוֹק יָרִ֣יחַ מִלְחָמָ֑ה רַ֥עַם שָׂ֝רִים וּתְרוּעָֽה׃
He says among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smells the battle far off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.
26 εκ δε της σης επιστημης εστηκεν ιεραξ αναπετασας τας πτερυγας ακινητος καθορων τα προς νοτον
ֲ‍ֽ֭מִבִּינָ֣תְךָ יַֽאֲבֶר־נֵ֑ץ יִפְרֹ֖שׂ *כנפו **כְּנָפָ֣יו לְתֵימָֽן׃
Does the hawk fly by your wisdom, and stretch her wings toward the south?
27 επι δε σω προσταγματι υψουται αετος γυψ δε επι νοσσιας αυτου καθεσθεις αυλιζεται
ִם־עַל־פִּ֭יךָ יַגְבִּ֣יהַּ נָ֑שֶׁר וְ֝כִ֗י יָרִ֥ים קִנּֽוֹ׃
Does the eagle mount up at your command, and make her nest on high?
28 επ εξοχη πετρας και αποκρυφω
ֶ֣לַע יִ֭שְׁכֹּן וְיִתְלֹנָ֑ן עַֽל־שֶׁן־סֶ֝֗לַע וּמְצוּדָֽה׃
She dwells and abides on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.
29 εκεισε ων ζητει τα σιτα πορρωθεν οι οφθαλμοι αυτου σκοπευουσιν
ִשָּׁ֥ם חָֽפַר־אֹ֑כֶל לְ֝מֵרָח֗וֹק עֵינָ֥יו יַבִּֽיטוּ׃
From thence she seeks the prey, and her eyes behold far off.
30 νεοσσοι δε αυτου φυρονται εν αιματι ου δ αν ωσι τεθνεωτες παραχρημα ευρισκονται
?אפרחו **וְאֶפְרֹחָ֥יו יְעַלְעוּ־דָ֑ם וּבַאֲשֶׁ֥ר חֲ֝לָלִ֗ים שָׁ֣ם הֽוּא׃ פ
Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain are, there is she.
