| 1 | The LORD Speaksμετα δε το παυσασθαι ελιουν της λεξεως ειπεν ο κυριος τω ιωβ δια λαιλαπος και νεφωνַיַּֽעַן־יְהוָ֣ה אֶת־אִ֭יּוֹב *מנ[c] *הסערה **מִ֥ן ׀ **הַסְּעָרָ֗ה וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, |

| 2 | τις ουτος ο κρυπτων με βουλην συνεχων δε ρηματα εν καρδια εμε δε οιεται κρυπτειν ִ֤י זֶ֨ה ׀ מַחְשִׁ֖יךְ עֵצָ֥ה בְמִלִּ֗ין בְּֽלִי־דָֽעַת׃ Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? |
| 3 | ζωσαι ωσπερ ανηρ την οσφυν σου ερωτησω δε σε συ δε μοι αποκριθητι ֱזָר־נָ֣א כְגֶ֣בֶר חֲלָצֶ֑יךָ וְ֝אֶשְׁאָלְךָ֗ וְהוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃ Gird up now your loins like a man; for I will demand of you, and answer you me. |
| 4 | που ης εν τω θεμελιουν με την γην απαγγειλον δε μοι ει επιστη συνεσιν ֵיפֹ֣ה הָ֭יִיתָ בְּיָסְדִי־אָ֑רֶץ הַ֝גֵּ֗ד אִם־יָדַ֥עְתָּ בִינָֽה׃ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if you have understanding. |
| 5 | τις εθετο τα μετρα αυτης ει οιδας η τις ο επαγαγων σπαρτιον επ αυτης ִי־שָׂ֣ם מְ֭מַדֶּיהָ כִּ֣י תֵדָ֑ע א֤וֹ מִֽי־נָטָ֖ה עָלֶ֣יהָ קָּֽו׃ Who has laid the measures thereof, if you know? or who has stretched the line upon it? |
| 6 | επι τινος οι κρικοι αυτης πεπηγασιν τις δε εστιν ο βαλων λιθον γωνιαιον επ αυτης ַל־מָ֭ה אֲדָנֶ֣יהָ הָטְבָּ֑עוּ א֥וֹ מִֽי־יָ֝רָ֗ה אֶ֣בֶן פִּנָּתָֽהּ׃ Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof; |
| 7 | οτε εγενηθησαν αστρα ηνεσαν με φωνη μεγαλη παντες αγγελοι μου ְּרָן־יַ֭חַד כּ֣וֹכְבֵי בֹ֑קֶר וַ֝יָּרִ֗יעוּ כָּל־בְּנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִֽים׃ When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? |
| 8 | εφραξα δε θαλασσαν πυλαις οτε εμαιμασσεν εκ κοιλιας μητρος αυτης εκπορευομενη ַיָּ֣סֶךְ בִּדְלָתַ֣יִם יָ֑ם בְּ֝גִיח֗וֹ מֵרֶ֥חֶם יֵצֵֽא׃ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb? |
| 9 | εθεμην δε αυτη νεφος αμφιασιν ομιχλη δε αυτην εσπαργανωσα ְּשׂוּמִ֣י עָנָ֣ן לְבֻשׁ֑וֹ וַ֝עֲרָפֶ֗ל חֲתֻלָּתֽוֹ׃ When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddling band for it, |
| 10 | εθεμην δε αυτη ορια περιθεις κλειθρα και πυλας ָאֶשְׁבֹּ֣ר עָלָ֣יו חֻקִּ֑י וָֽ֝אָשִׂ֗ים בְּרִ֣יחַ וּדְלָתָֽיִם׃ And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, |
| 11 | ειπα δε αυτη μεχρι τουτου ελευση και ουχ υπερβηση αλλ εν σεαυτη συντριβησεται σου τα κυματα ָאֹמַ֗ר עַד־פֹּ֣ה תָ֭בוֹא וְלֹ֣א תֹסִ֑יף וּפֹ֥א־יָ֝שִׁ֗ית בִּגְא֥וֹן גַּלֶּֽיךָ׃ And said, Until now shall you come, but no further: and here shall your proud waves be stayed? |
| 12 | η επι σου συντεταχα φεγγος πρωινον εωσφορος δε ειδεν την εαυτου ταξιν ְֽ֭מִיָּמֶיךָ צִוִּ֣יתָ בֹּ֑קֶר *ידעתה *שחר **יִדַּ֖עְתָּה **הַשַּׁ֣חַר מְקֹמֽוֹ׃ Have you commanded the morning since your days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; |
| 13 | επιλαβεσθαι πτερυγων γης εκτιναξαι ασεβεις εξ αυτης ֶ֭אֱחֹז בְּכַנְפ֣וֹת הָאָ֑רֶץ וְיִנָּעֲר֖וּ רְשָׁעִ֣[7]ים מִמֶּֽנָּה׃ That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? |
| 14 | η συ λαβων γην πηλον επλασας ζωον και λαλητον αυτον εθου επι γης ִּ֭תְהַפֵּךְ כְּחֹ֣מֶר חוֹתָ֑ם וְ֝יִֽתְיַצְּב֗וּ כְּמ֣וֹ לְבֽוּשׁ׃ It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment. |
| 15 | αφειλας δε απο ασεβων το φως βραχιονα δε υπερηφανων συνετριψας ְיִמָּנַ֣ע מֵרְשָׁעִ֣[7]ים אוֹרָ֑ם וּזְר֥וֹעַ רָ֝מָ֗ה תִּשָּׁבֵֽר׃ And from the wicked their light is withheld, and the high arm shall be broken. |
| 16 | ηλθες δε επι πηγην θαλασσης εν δε ιχνεσιν αβυσσου περιεπατησας ֲ֭בָאתָ עַד־נִבְכֵי־יָ֑ם וּבְחֵ֥קֶר תְּ֝ה֗וֹם הִתְהַלָּֽכְתָּ׃ Have you entered into the springs of the sea? or have you walked in the search of the depth? |
| 17 | ανοιγονται δε σοι φοβω πυλαι θανατου πυλωροι δε αδου ιδοντες σε επτηξαν ֲנִגְל֣וּ לְ֭ךָ שַׁעֲרֵי־מָ֑וֶת וְשַׁעֲרֵ֖י צַלְמָ֣וֶת תִּרְאֶֽה׃ Have the gates of death been opened unto you? or have you seen the doors of the shadow of death? |
| 18 | νενουθετησαι δε το ευρος της υπ ουρανον αναγγειλον δη μοι ποση τις εστιν ִ֭תְבֹּנַנְתָּ עַד־רַחֲבֵי־אָ֑רֶץ הַ֝גֵּ֗ד אִם־יָדַ֥עְתָּ כֻלָּֽהּ׃ Have you perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if you know it all. |
| 19 | ποια δε γη αυλιζεται το φως σκοτους δε ποιος ο τοπος ֵי־זֶ֣ה הַ֭דֶּרֶךְ יִשְׁכָּן־א֑וֹר וְ֝חֹ֗שֶׁךְ אֵי־זֶ֥ה מְקֹמֽוֹ׃ Where is the way where light dwells? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof, |
| 20 | ει αγαγοις με εις ορια αυτων ει δε και επιστασαι τριβους αυτων ִּ֣י תִ֭קָּחֶנּוּ אֶל־גְּבוּל֑וֹ וְכִֽי־תָ֝בִ֗ין נְתִיב֥וֹת בֵּיתֽוֹ׃ That you should take it to the bound thereof, and that you should know the paths to the house thereof? |
| 21 | οιδα αρα οτι τοτε γεγεννησαι αριθμος δε ετων σου πολυς ָ֭דַעְתָּ כִּי־אָ֣ז תִּוָּלֵ֑ד וּמִסְפַּ֖ר יָמֶ֣יךָ רַבִּֽים׃ Know you it, because you were then born? or because the number of your days is great? |
| 22 | ηλθες δε επι θησαυρους χιονος θησαυρους δε χαλαζης εορακας ֲ֭בָאתָ אֶל־אֹצְר֣וֹת שָׁ֑לֶג וְאֹצְר֖וֹת בָּרָ֣ד תִּרְאֶֽה׃ Have you entered into the treasures of the snow? or have you seen the treasures of the hail, |
| 23 | αποκειται δε σοι εις ωραν εχθρων εις ημεραν πολεμου και μαχης ֲשֶׁר־חָשַׂ֥כְתִּי לְעֶת־צָ֑ר לְי֥וֹם קְ֝רָ֗ב וּמִלְחָמָֽה׃ Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war? |
| 24 | ποθεν δε εκπορευεται παχνη η διασκεδαννυται νοτος εις την υπ ουρανον ֵי־זֶ֣ה הַ֭דֶּרֶךְ יֵחָ֣לֶק א֑וֹר יָפֵ֖ץ קָדִ֣ים עֲלֵי־אָֽרֶץ׃ By what way is the light parted, which scatters the east wind upon the earth? |
| 25 | τις δε ητοιμασεν υετω λαβρω ρυσιν οδον δε κυδοιμων ִֽי־פִלַּ֣ג לַשֶּׁ֣טֶף תְּעָלָ֑ה וְ֝דֶ֗רֶךְ לַחֲזִ֥יז קֹלֽוֹת׃ Who has divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder; |
| 26 | του υετισαι επι γην ου ουκ ανηρ ερημον ου ουχ υπαρχει ανθρωπος εν αυτη ְ֭הַמְטִיר עַל־אֶ֣רֶץ לֹא־אִ֑ישׁ מִ֝דְבָּ֗ר לֹא־אָדָ֥ם בּֽוֹ׃ To cause it to rain on the earth, where no man is; on the wilderness, wherein there is no man; |
| 27 | του χορτασαι αβατον και αοικητον και του εκβλαστησαι εξοδον χλοης ְהַשְׂבִּ֣יעַ שֹׁ֭אָה וּמְשֹׁאָ֑ה וּ֝לְהַצְמִ֗יחַ מֹ֣צָא דֶֽשֶׁא׃ To satisfy the desolate and waste ground; and to cause the bud of the tender herb to spring forth? |
| 28 | τις εστιν υετου πατηρ τις δε εστιν ο τετοκως βωλους δροσου ֲיֵשׁ־לַמָּטָ֥ר אָ֑ב א֥וֹ מִי־ה֝וֹלִ֗יד אֶגְלֵי־טָֽל׃ Has the rain a father? or who has begotten the drops of dew? |
| 29 | εκ γαστρος δε τινος εκπορευεται ο κρυσταλλος παχνην δε εν ουρανω τις τετοκεν ִבֶּ֣טֶן מִ֭י יָצָ֣א הַקָּ֑רַח וּכְפֹ֥ר שָׁ֝מַיִם מִ֣י יְלָדֽוֹ׃ Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who has gendered it? |
| 30 | η καταβαινει ωσπερ υδωρ ρεον προσωπον δε αβυσσου τις επηξεν ָּ֭אֶבֶן מַ֣יִם יִתְחַבָּ֑אוּ וּפְנֵ֥י תְ֝ה֗וֹם יִתְלַכָּֽדוּ׃ The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen. |
| 31 | συνηκας δε δεσμον πλειαδος και φραγμον ωριωνος ηνοιξας ַֽ֭תְקַשֵּׁר מַעֲדַנּ֣וֹת כִּימָ֑ה אֽוֹ־מֹשְׁכ֖וֹת כְּסִ֣יל תְּפַתֵּֽחַ׃ Can you bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? |
| 32 | η διανοιξεις μαζουρωθ εν καιρω αυτου και εσπερον επι κομης αυτου αξεις αυτα ֲתֹצִ֣יא מַזָּר֣וֹת בְּעִתּ֑וֹ וְ֝עַ֗יִשׁ עַל־בָּנֶ֥יהָ תַנְחֵֽם׃ Can you bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or can you guide Arcturus with his sons? |
| 33 | επιστασαι δε τροπας ουρανου η τα υπ ουρανον ομοθυμαδον γινομενα ֲ֭יָדַעְתָּ חֻקּ֣וֹת שָׁמָ֑יִם אִם־תָּשִׂ֖ים מִשְׁטָר֣וֹ בָאָֽרֶץ׃ Know you the ordinances of heaven? can you set the dominion thereof in the earth? |
| 34 | καλεσεις δε νεφος φωνη και τρομω υδατος λαβρω υπακουσεται σου ֲתָרִ֣ים לָעָ֣ב קוֹלֶ֑ךָ וְֽשִׁפְעַת־מַ֥יִם תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃ Can you lift up your voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover you? |
| 35 | αποστελεις δε κεραυνους και πορευσονται ερουσιν δε σοι τι εστιν ֽ͏ַתְשַׁלַּ֣ח בְּרָקִ֣ים וְיֵלֵ֑כוּ וְיֹאמְר֖וּ לְךָ֣ הִנֵּֽנוּ׃ Can you send lightnings, that they may go and say unto you, Here we are? |
| 36 | τις δε εδωκεν γυναιξιν υφασματος σοφιαν η ποικιλτικην επιστημην ִי־שָׁ֭ת בַּטֻּח֣וֹת חָכְמָ֑ה א֤וֹ מִֽי־נָתַ֖ן לַשֶּׂ֣כְוִי בִינָֽה׃ Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? or who has given understanding to the heart? |
| 37 | τις δε ο αριθμων νεφη σοφια ουρανον δε εις γην εκλινεν ִֽי־יְסַפֵּ֣ר שְׁחָקִ֣ים בְּחָכְמָ֑ה וְנִבְלֵ֥י שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם מִ֣י יַשְׁכִּֽיב׃ Who can number the clouds in wisdom? or who can stay the bottles of heaven, |
| 38 | κεχυται δε ωσπερ γη κονια κεκολληκα δε αυτον ωσπερ λιθω κυβον ְּצֶ֣קֶת עָ֭פָר לַמּוּצָ֑ק וּרְגָבִ֥ים יְדֻבָּֽקוּ׃ When the dust grows into hardness, and the clods cleave fast together? |
| 39 | θηρευσεις δε λεουσιν βοραν ψυχας δε δρακοντων εμπλησεις ֲתָצ֣וּד לְלָבִ֣יא טָ֑רֶף וְחַיַּ֖ת כְּפִירִ֣ים תְּמַלֵּֽא׃ Will you hunt the prey for the lion? or fill the appetite of the young lions, |
| 40 | δεδοικασιν γαρ εν κοιταις αυτων καθηνται δε εν υλαις ενεδρευοντες ִּי־יָשֹׁ֥חוּ בַמְּעוֹנ֑וֹת יֵשְׁב֖וּ בַסֻּכָּ֣ה לְמוֹ־אָֽרֶב׃ When they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait? |
| 41 | τις δε ητοιμασεν κορακι βοραν νεοσσοι γαρ αυτου προς κυριον κεκραγασιν πλανωμενοι τα σιτα ζητουντες ִ֤י יָכִ֥ין לָעֹרֵ֗ב צֵ֫יד֥וֹ כִּֽי־*ילדו **יְ֭לָדָיו אֶל־אֵ֣ל יְשַׁוֵּ֑עוּ יִ֝תְע֗וּ לִבְלִי־אֹֽכֶל׃ Who provides for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of food. |
