| 1 | Eliphazυπολαβων δε ελιφας ο θαιμανιτης λεγειַ֭יַּעַן אֱלִיפַ֥ז הַֽתֵּמָנִ֗י וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said, |

| 2 | ποτερον ουχι ο κυριος εστιν ο διδασκων συνεσιν και επιστημην ַלְאֵ֥ל יִסְכָּן־גָּ֑בֶר כִּֽי־יִסְכֹּ֖ן עָלֵ֣ימוֹ מַשְׂכִּֽיל׃ Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself? |
| 3 | τι γαρ μελει τω κυριω εαν συ ησθα τοις εργοις αμεμπτος η ωφελεια οτι απλωσης την οδον σου ַחֵ֣פֶץ לְ֭שַׁדַּי כִּ֣י תִצְדָּ֑ק וְאִם־בֶּ֝֗צַע כִּֽי־תַתֵּ֥ם דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃ Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that you are righteous? or is it gain to him, that you make your ways perfect? |
| 4 | η λογον σου ποιουμενος ελεγξει σε και συνεισελευσεται σοι εις κρισιν ֲֽ֭מִיִּרְאָ֣תְךָ יֹכִיחֶ֑ךָ יָב֥וֹא עִ֝מְּךָ֗ בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃ Will he reprove you for fear of you? will he enter with you into judgment? |
| 5 | ποτερον ουχ η κακια σου εστιν πολλη αναριθμητοι δε σου εισιν αι αμαρτιαι ֲלֹ֣א רָעָֽתְךָ֣ רַבָּ֑ה וְאֵֽין־קֵ֝֗ץ לַעֲוֺנֹתֶֽיךָ׃ Is not your wickedness great? and yours iniquities infinite? |
| 6 | ηνεχυραζες δε τους αδελφους σου δια κενης αμφιασιν δε γυμνων αφειλου ִּֽי־תַחְבֹּ֣ל אַחֶ֣יךָ חִנָּ֑ם וּבִגְדֵ֖י עֲרוּמִּ֣ים תַּפְשִֽׁיט׃ For you have taken a pledge from your brother for nothing, and stripped the naked of their clothing. |
| 7 | ουδε υδωρ διψωντας εποτισας αλλα πεινωντων εστερησας ψωμον ֹא־מַ֭יִם עָיֵ֣ף תַּשְׁקֶ֑ה וּ֝מֵרָעֵ֗ב תִּֽמְנַֽע־לָֽחֶם׃ You have not given water to the weary to drink, and you have withheld bread from the hungry. |
| 8 | εθαυμασας δε τινων προσωπον ωκισας δε τους επι της γης ְאִ֣ישׁ זְ֭רוֹעַ ל֣וֹ הָאָ֑רֶץ וּנְשׂ֥וּא פָ֝נִ֗ים יֵ֣שֶׁב בָּֽהּ׃ But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it. |
| 9 | χηρας δε εξαπεστειλας κενας ορφανους δε εκακωσας ַ֭לְמָנוֹת שִׁלַּ֣חְתָּ רֵיקָ֑ם וּזְרֹע֖וֹת יְתֹמִ֣ים יְדֻכָּֽא׃ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken. |
| 10 | τοιγαρουν εκυκλωσαν σε παγιδες και εσπουδασεν σε πολεμος εξαισιος ַל־כֵּ֭ן סְבִיבוֹתֶ֣יךָ פַחִ֑ים וִֽ֝יבַהֶלְךָ פַּ֣חַד פִּתְאֹֽם׃ Therefore snares are round about you, and sudden fear troubles you; |
| 11 | το φως σοι σκοτος απεβη κοιμηθεντα δε υδωρ σε εκαλυψεν וֹ־חֹ֥שֶׁךְ לֹֽא־תִרְאֶ֑ה וְֽשִׁפְעַת־מַ֥יִם תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃ Or darkness, that you can not see; and abundance of waters cover you. |
| 12 | μη ουχι ο τα υψηλα ναιων εφορα τους δε υβρει φερομενους εταπεινωσεν ֲֽלֹא־אֱ֭לוֹהַּ גֹּ֣בַהּ שָׁמָ֑יִם וּרְאֵ֤ה רֹ֖אשׁ כּוֹכָבִ֣ים כִּי־רָֽמּוּ׃ Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! |
| 13 | και ειπας τι εγνω ο ισχυρος η κατα του γνοφου κρινει ְֽ֭אָמַרְתָּ מַה־יָּ֣דַֽע אֵ֑ל הַבְעַ֖ד עֲרָפֶ֣ל יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃ And you says, How does God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? |
| 14 | νεφη αποκρυφη αυτου και ουχ οραθησεται και γυρον ουρανου διαπορευσεται ָבִ֣ים סֵֽתֶר־ל֭וֹ וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֶ֑ה וְח֥וּג שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃ Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he sees not; and he walks in the circuit of heaven. |
| 15 | μη τριβον αιωνιον φυλαξεις ην επατησαν ανδρες αδικοι ַאֹ֣רַח עוֹלָ֣ם תִּשְׁמֹ֑ר אֲשֶׁ֖ר דָּרְכ֣וּ מְתֵי־אָֽוֶן׃ Have you marked the old way which wicked men have trodden? |
| 16 | οι συνελημφθησαν αωροι ποταμος επιρρεων οι θεμελιοι αυτων ֲשֶֽׁר־קֻמְּט֥וּ וְלֹא־עֵ֑ת נָ֝הָ֗ר יוּצַ֥ק יְסוֹדָֽם׃ Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood: |
| 17 | οι λεγοντες κυριος τι ποιησει ημιν η τι επαξεται ημιν ο παντοκρατωρ ָאֹמְרִ֣ים לָ֭אֵל ס֣וּר מִמֶּ֑נּוּ וּמַה־יִּפְעַ֖ל שַׁדַּ֣י לָֽמוֹ׃ Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them? |
| 18 | ος δε ενεπλησεν τους οικους αυτων αγαθων βουλη δε ασεβων πορρω απ αυτου ְה֤וּא מִלֵּ֣א בָתֵּיהֶ֣ם ט֑וֹב וַעֲצַ֥ת רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים רָ֣חֲקָה מֶֽנִּי׃ Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me. |
| 19 | ιδοντες δικαιοι εγελασαν αμεμπτος δε εμυκτηρισεν ִרְא֣וּ צַדִּיקִ֣ים וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ וְ֝נָקִ֗י יִלְעַג־לָֽמוֹ׃ The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn. |
| 20 | ει μη ηφανισθη η υποστασις αυτων και το καταλειμμα αυτων καταφαγεται πυρ ִם־לֹ֣א נִכְחַ֣ד קִימָ֑נוּ וְ֝יִתְרָ֗ם אָ֣כְלָה אֵֽשׁ׃ Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumes. |
| 21 | γενου δη σκληρος εαν υπομεινης ειτ ο καρπος σου εσται εν αγαθοις ַסְכֶּן־נָ֣א עִמּ֑וֹ וּשְׁלם בָּ֝הֶ֗ם תְּֽבוֹאַתְךָ֥ טוֹבָֽה׃ Acquaint now yourself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto you. |
| 22 | εκλαβε δε εκ στοματος αυτου εξηγοριαν και αναλαβε τα ρηματα αυτου εν καρδια σου ַח־נָ֣א מִפִּ֣יו תּוֹרָ֑ה וְשִׂ֥ים אֲ֝מָרָ֗יו בִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃ Receive, I pray you, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in yours heart. |
| 23 | εαν δε επιστραφης και ταπεινωσης σεαυτον εναντι κυριου πορρω εποιησας απο διαιτης σου το αδικον ִם־תָּשׁ֣וּב עַד־שַׁ֭דַּי תִּבָּנֶ֑ה תַּרְחִ֥יק עַ֝וְלָ֗ה מֵאָהֳלֶֽךָ׃ If you return to the Almighty, you shall be built up, you shall put away iniquity far from your tabernacles. |
| 24 | θηση επι χωματι εν πετρα και ως πετρα χειμαρρους ωφιρ ְשִׁית־עַל־עָפָ֥ר בָּ֑צֶר וּבְצ֖וּר נְחָלִ֣ים אוֹפִֽיר׃ Then shall you lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. |
| 25 | εσται ουν σου ο παντοκρατωρ βοηθος απο εχθρων καθαρον δε αποδωσει σε ωσπερ αργυριον πεπυρωμενον ְהָיָ֣ה שַׁדַּ֣י בְּצָרֶ֑יךָ וְכֶ֖סֶף תּוֹעָפ֣וֹת לָֽךְ׃ Yea, the Almighty shall be your defence, and you shall have plenty of silver. |
| 26 | ειτα παρρησιασθηση εναντι κυριου αναβλεψας εις τον ουρανον ιλαρως ִּי־אָ֭ז עַל־שַׁדַּ֣י תִּתְעַנָּ֑ג וְתִשָּׂ֖א אֶל־אֱל֣וֹהַּ פָּנֶֽיךָ׃ For then shall you have your delight in the Almighty, and shall lift up your face unto God. |
| 27 | ευξαμενου δε σου προς αυτον εισακουσεται σου δωσει δε σοι αποδουναι τας ευχας ַּעְתִּ֣יר אֵ֭לָיו וְיִשְׁמָעֶ֑ךָּ וּנְדָרֶ֥יךָ תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ You shall make your prayer unto him, and he shall hear you, and you shall pay your vows. |
| 28 | αποκαταστησει δε σοι διαιταν δικαιοσυνης επι δε οδοις σου εσται φεγγος ְֽתִגְזַר־א֭וֹמֶר וְיָ֣קָם לָ֑ךְ וְעַל־דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ נָ֣גַֽהּ אֽוֹר׃ You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you: and the light shall shine upon your ways. |
| 29 | οτι εταπεινωσεν αυτον και ερεις υπερηφανευσατο και κυφοντα οφθαλμοις σωσει ִּֽי־הִ֭שְׁפִּילוּ וַתֹּ֣אמֶר גֵּוָ֑ה וְשַׁ֖ח עֵינַ֣יִם יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃ When men are cast down, then you shall say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. |
| 30 | ρυσεται αθωον και διασωθητι εν καθαραις χερσιν σου ְֽמַלֵּ֥ט אִֽי־נָקִ֑י וְ֝נִמְלַ֗ט בְּבֹ֣ר כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃ פ He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of yours hands. |
