1 καμνων τη ψυχη μου στενων επαφησω επ αυτον τα ρηματα μου λαλησω πικρια ψυχης μου συνεχομενος
ָֽקְטָ֥ה נַפְשִׁ֗י בְּחַ֫יָּ֥י אֶֽעֶזְבָ֣ה עָלַ֣י שִׂיחִ֑י אֲ֝דַבְּרָה֗ בְּמַ֣ר נַפְשִֽׁי׃
My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
2 και ερω προς κυριον μη με ασεβειν διδασκε και δια τι με ουτως εκρινας
ֹמַ֣ר אֶל־אֱ֭לוֹהַּ אַל־תַּרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי הֽ֝וֹדִיעֵ֗נִי עַ֣ל מַה־תְּרִיבֵֽנִי׃
I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; show me wherefore you contend with me.
3 η καλον σοι εαν αδικησω οτι απειπω εργα χειρων σου βουλη δε ασεβων προσεσχες
ֲט֤וֹב לְךָ֨ ׀ כִּֽי־תַעֲשֹׁ֗ק כִּֽי־תִ֭מְאַס יְגִ֣יעַ כַּפֶּ֑יךָ וְעַל־עֲצַ֖ת רְשָׁעִ֣ים הוֹפָֽעְתָּ׃
Is it good unto you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of yours hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?
4 η ωσπερ βροτος ορα καθορας η καθως ορα ανθρωπος βλεψη
ַעֵינֵ֣י בָשָׂ֣ר לָ֑ךְ אִם־כִּרְא֖וֹת אֱנ֣וֹשׁ תִּרְאֶֽה׃
Have you eyes of flesh? or see you as man sees?
5 η ο βιος σου ανθρωπινος εστιν η τα ετη σου ανδρος
ֲכִימֵ֣י אֱנ֣וֹשׁ יָמֶ֑יךָ אִם־שְׁ֝נוֹתֶ֗יךָ כִּ֣ימֵי גָֽבֶר׃
Are your days as the days of man? are your years as man's days,
6 οτι ανεζητησας την ανομιαν μου και τας αμαρτιας μου εξιχνιασας
ִּֽי־תְבַקֵּ֥שׁ לַעֲוֺנִ֑י וּ֭לְחַטָּאתִ֥י תִדְרֽוֹשׁ׃
That you enquire after mine iniquity, and search after my sin?
7 οιδας γαρ οτι ουκ ησεβησα αλλα τις εστιν ο εκ των χειρων σου εξαιρουμενος
ַֽל־דַּ֭עְתְּךָ כִּי־לֹ֣א אֶרְשָׁ֑ע וְאֵ֖ין מִיָּדְךָ֣ מַצִּֽיל׃
You know that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of yours hand.
8 αι χειρες σου επλασαν με και εποιησαν με μετα ταυτα μεταβαλων με επαισας
ָדֶ֣יךָ עִ֭צְּבוּנִי וַֽיַּעֲשׂ֑וּנִי יַ֥חַד סָ֝בִ֗יב וַֽתְּבַלְּעֵֽנִי׃
Yours hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet you do destroy me.
9 μνησθητι οτι πηλον με επλασας εις δε γην με παλιν αποστρεφεις
ְכָר־נָ֭א כִּי־כַחֹ֣מֶר עֲשִׂיתָ֑נִי וְֽאֶל־עָפָ֥ר תְּשִׁיבֵֽנִי׃
Remember, I plead to you, that you have made me as the clay; and will you bring me into dust again?
10 η ουχ ωσπερ γαλα με ημελξας ετυρωσας δε με ισα τυρω
ֲלֹ֣א כֶ֭חָלָב תַּתִּיכֵ֑נִי וְ֝כַגְּבִנָּ֗ה תַּקְפִּיאֵֽנִי׃
Have you not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?
11 δερμα και κρεας με ενεδυσας οστεοις δε και νευροις με ενειρας
֣וֹר וּ֭בָשָׂר תַּלְבִּישֵׁ֑נִי וּֽבַעֲצָמ֥וֹת וְ֝גִידִ֗ים תְּסֹכְכֵֽנִי׃
You have clothed me with skin and flesh, and have fenced me with bones and sinews.
12 ζωην δε και ελεος εθου παρ εμοι η δε επισκοπη σου εφυλαξεν μου το πνευμα
ַיִּ֣ים וָ֭חֶסֶד עָשִׂ֣יתָ עִמָּדִ֑י וּ֝פְקֻדָּתְךָ֗ שָֽׁמְרָ֥ה רוּחִֽי׃
You have granted me life and favour, and your visitation has preserved my spirit.
13 ταυτα εχων εν σεαυτω οιδα οτι παντα δυνασαι αδυνατει δε σοι ουθεν
ְ֭אֵלֶּה צָפַ֣נְתָּ בִלְבָבֶ֑ךָ יָ֝דַ֗עְתִּי כִּי־זֹ֥את עִמָּֽךְ׃
And these things have you hid in yours heart: I know that this is with you.
14 εαν τε γαρ αμαρτω φυλασσεις με απο δε ανομιας ουκ αθωον με πεποιηκας
ִם־חָטָ֥אתִי וּשְׁמַרְתָּ֑נִי וּ֝מֵעֲוֺנִ֗י לֹ֣א תְנַקֵּֽנִי׃
If I sin, then you mark me, and you will not acquit me from mine iniquity.
15 εαν τε γαρ ασεβης ω οιμμοι εαν τε ω δικαιος ου δυναμαι ανακυψαι πληρης γαρ ατιμιας ειμι
ִם־רָשַׁ֡עְתִּי אַלְלַ֬י לִ֗י וְ֭צָדַקְתִּי לֹא־אֶשָּׂ֣א רֹאשִׁ֑י שְׂבַ֥ע קָ֝ל֗וֹן וּרְאֵ֥ה עָנְיֽ͏ִי׃
If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see you mine affliction;
16 αγρευομαι γαρ ωσπερ λεων εις σφαγην παλιν δε μεταβαλων δεινως με ολεκεις
ְ֭יִגְאֶה כַּשַּׁ֣חַל תְּצוּדֵ֑נִי וְ֝תָשֹׁ֗ב תִּתְפַּלָּא־בִֽי׃
For it increases. You hunt me as a fierce lion: and again you show yourself marvellous upon me.
17 επανακαινιζων επ εμε την ετασιν μου οργη δε μεγαλη μοι εχρησω επηγαγες δε επ εμε πειρατηρια
ְּחַדֵּ֬שׁ עֵדֶ֨יךָ ׀ נֶגְדִּ֗י וְתֶ֣רֶב כַּֽ֭עַשְׂךָ עִמָּדִ֑י חֲלִיפ֖וֹת וְצָבָ֣א עִמִּֽי׃
You renew your witnesses against me, and increase yours indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.
18 ινα τι ουν εκ κοιλιας με εξηγαγες και ουκ απεθανον οφθαλμος δε με ουκ ειδεν
ְלָ֣מָּה מֵ֭רֶחֶם הֹצֵאתָ֑נִי אֶ֝גְוַ֗ע וְעַ֣יִן לֹא־תִרְאֵֽנִי׃
Wherefore then have you brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the spirit, and no eye had seen me!
19 και ωσπερ ουκ ων εγενομην δια τι γαρ εκ γαστρος εις μνημα ουκ απηλλαγην
ַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר לֹא־הָיִ֣יתִי אֶהְיֶ֑ה מִ֝בֶּ֗טֶן לַקֶּ֥בֶר אוּבָֽל׃
I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
20 η ουκ ολιγος εστιν ο χρονος του βιου μου εασον με αναπαυσασθαι μικρον
ֲלֹא־מְעַ֣ט יָמַ֣י *יחדל **וַחֲדָ֑ל *ישית **וְשִׁ֥ית מִ֝מֶּ֗נִּי וְאַבְלִ֥יגָה מְּעָֽט׃
Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,
21 προ του με πορευθηναι οθεν ουκ αναστρεψω εις γην σκοτεινην και γνοφεραν
ְּטֶ֣רֶם אֵ֭לֵךְ וְלֹ֣א אָשׁ֑וּב אֶל־אֶ֖רֶץ חֹ֣שֶׁךְ וְצַלְמָֽוֶת׃
Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
22 εις γην σκοτους αιωνιου ου ουκ εστιν φεγγος ουδε οραν ζωην βροτων
ֶ֤רֶץ עֵיפָ֨תָה ׀ כְּמ֥וֹ אֹ֗פֶל צַ֭לְמָוֶת וְלֹ֥א סְדָרִ֗ים וַתֹּ֥פַע כְּמוֹ־אֹֽפֶל׃ פ
A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.
