Jeremiah and Pashhur
και ηκουσεν πασχωρ υιος εμμηρ ο ιερευς και ουτος ην καθεσταμενος ηγουμενος οικου κυριου του ιερεμιου προφητευοντος τους λογους τουτους
ַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע פַּשְׁחוּר֙ בֶּן־אִמֵּ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְהֽוּא־פָקִ֥יד נָגִ֖יד בְּבֵ֣ית יְהוָ֑ה אֶֽת־יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ נִבָּ֖א אֶת־הַדְּבָרִ֥ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
Now Pashur the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the house of the LORD, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things.
2 και επαταξεν αυτον και ενεβαλεν αυτον εις τον καταρρακτην ος ην εν πυλη οικου αποτεταγμενου του υπερωου ος ην εν οικω κυριου
ַיַּכֶּ֣ה פַשְׁח֔וּר אֵ֖ת יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ הַנָּבִ֑יא וַיִּתֵּ֨ן אֹת֜וֹ עַל־הַמַּהְפֶּ֗כֶת אֲשֶׁ֨ר בְּשַׁ֤עַר בִּנְיָמִן֙ הָֽעֶלְי֔וֹן אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּבֵ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃
Then Pashur stroke Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the LORD.
3 και εξηγαγεν πασχωρ τον ιερεμιαν εκ του καταρρακτου και ειπεν αυτω ιερεμιας ουχι πασχωρ εκαλεσεν κυριος το ονομα σου αλλ η μετοικον
ַֽיְהִי֙ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת וַיֹּצֵ֥א פַשְׁח֛וּר אֶֽת־יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ מִן־הַמַּהְפָּ֑כֶת וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ לֹ֤א פַשְׁחוּר֙ קָרָ֤א יְהוָה֙ שְׁמֶ֔ךָ כִּ֖י אִם־מָג֥וֹר מִסָּבִֽיב׃ פ
And it came to pass on the next day, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD has not called your name Pashur, but Magormissabib.
4 διοτι ταδε λεγει κυριος ιδου εγω διδωμι σε εις μετοικιαν συν πασι τοις φιλοις σου και πεσουνται εν μαχαιρα εχθρων αυτων και οι οφθαλμοι σου οψονται και σε και παντα ιουδαν δωσω εις χειρας βασιλεως βαβυλωνος και μετοικιουσιν αυτους και κατακοψουσιν αυτους εν μαχαιραις
ִּ֣י כֹ֣ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֡ה הִנְנִי֩ נֹתֶנְךָ֨ לְמָג֜וֹר לְךָ֣ וּלְכָל־אֹהֲבֶ֗יךָ וְנָֽפְל֛וּ בְּחֶ֥רֶב אֹיְבֵיהֶ֖ם וְעֵינֶ֣יךָ רֹא֑וֹת וְאֶת־כָּל־יְהוּדָ֗ה אֶתֵּן֙ בְּיַ֣ד מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֔ל וְהִגְלָ֥ם בָּבֶ֖לָה וְהִכָּ֥ם בֶּחָֽרֶב׃
For thus says the LORD, Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself, and to all your friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and yours eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword.
5 και δωσω την πασαν ισχυν της πολεως ταυτης και παντας τους πονους αυτης και παντας τους θησαυρους του βασιλεως ιουδα εις χειρας εχθρων αυτου και αξουσιν αυτους εις βαβυλωνα
ְנָתַתִּ֗י אֶת־כָּל־חֹ֙סֶן֙ הָעִ֣יר הַזֹּ֔את וְאֶת־כָּל־יְגִיעָ֖הּ וְאֶת־כָּל־יְקָרָ֑הּ וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־אוֹצְר֜וֹת מַלְכֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה אֶתֵּן֙ בְּיַ֣ד אֹֽיְבֵיהֶ֔ם וּבְזָזוּם֙ וּלְקָח֔וּם וֶהֱבִיא֖וּם בָּבֶֽלָה׃
Moreover I will deliver all the strength of this city, and all the labours thereof, and all the precious things thereof, and all the treasures of the kings of Judah will I give into the hand of their enemies, which shall spoil them, and take them, and carry them to Babylon.
6 και συ και παντες οι κατοικουντες εν τω οικω σου πορευσεσθε εν αιχμαλωσια και εν βαβυλωνι αποθανη και εκει ταφηση συ και παντες οι φιλοι σου οις επροφητευσας αυτοις ψευδη
ְאַתָּ֣ה פַשְׁח֗וּר וְכֹל֙ יֹשְׁבֵ֣י בֵיתֶ֔ךָ תֵּלְכ֖וּ בַּשֶּׁ֑בִי וּבָבֶ֣ל תָּב֗וֹא וְשָׁ֤ם תָּמוּת֙ וְשָׁ֣ם תִּקָּבֵ֔ר אַתָּה֙ וְכָל־אֹ֣הֲבֶ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁר־נִבֵּ֥אתָ לָהֶ֖ם בַּשָּֽׁקֶר׃ ס
And you, Pashur, and all that dwell in yours house shall go into captivity: and you shall come to Babylon, and there you shall die, and shall be buried there, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied lies.

Jeremiah’s Complaint
ηπατησας με κυριε και ηπατηθην εκρατησας και ηδυνασθης εγενομην εις γελωτα πασαν ημεραν διετελεσα μυκτηριζομενος
ִּתִּיתַ֤נִי יְהוָה֙ וֽ͏ָאֶפָּ֔ת חֲזַקְתַּ֖נִי וַתּוּכָ֑ל הָיִ֤יתִי לִשְׂחוֹק֙ כָּל־הַיּ֔וֹם כֻּלֹּ֖ה לֹעֵ֥ג לִֽי׃
O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and have prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocks me.
8 οτι πικρω λογω μου γελασομαι αθεσιαν και ταλαιπωριαν επικαλεσομαι οτι εγενηθη λογος κυριου εις ονειδισμον εμοι και εις χλευασμον πασαν ημεραν μου
ִּֽי־מִדֵּ֤י אֲדַבֵּר֙ אֶזְעָ֔ק חָמָ֥ס וָשֹׁ֖ד אֶקְרָ֑א כִּֽי־הָיָ֨ה דְבַר־יְהוָ֥ה לִ֛י לְחֶרְפָּ֥ה וּלְקֶ֖לֶס כָּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃
For since I spoke, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily.
9 και ειπα ου μη ονομασω το ονομα κυριου και ου μη λαλησω ετι επι τω ονοματι αυτου και εγενετο ως πυρ καιομενον φλεγον εν τοις οστεοις μου και παρειμαι παντοθεν και ου δυναμαι φερειν
ְאָמַרְתִּ֣י לֹֽא־אֶזְכְּרֶ֗נּוּ וְלֹֽא־אֲדַבֵּ֥ר עוֹד֙ בִּשְׁמ֔וֹ וְהָיָ֤ה בְלִבִּי֙ כְּאֵ֣שׁ בֹּעֶ֔רֶת עָצֻ֖ר בְּעַצְמֹתָ֑י וְנִלְאֵ֥יתִי כַּֽלְכֵ֖ל וְלֹ֥א אוּכָֽל׃
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
10 οτι ηκουσα ψογον πολλων συναθροιζομενων κυκλοθεν επισυστητε και επισυστωμεν αυτω παντες ανδρες φιλοι αυτου τηρησατε την επινοιαν αυτου ει απατηθησεται και δυνησομεθα αυτω και λημψομεθα την εκδικησιν ημων εξ αυτου
ִּ֣י שָׁמַ֜עְתִּי דִּבַּ֣ת רַבִּים֮ מָג֣וֹר מִסָּבִיב֒ הַגִּ֙ידוּ֙ וְנַגִּידֶ֔נּוּ כֹּ֚ל אֱנ֣וֹשׁ שְׁלוֹמִ֔י שֹׁמְרֵ֖י צַלְעִ֑י אוּלַ֤י יְפֻתֶּה֙ וְנ֣וּכְלָה ל֔וֹ וְנִקְחָ֥ה נִקְמָתֵ֖נוּ מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Possibly he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
11 και κυριος μετ εμου καθως μαχητης ισχυων δια τουτο εδιωξαν και νοησαι ουκ ηδυναντο ησχυνθησαν σφοδρα οτι ουκ ενοησαν ατιμιας αυτων αι δι αιωνος ουκ επιλησθησονται
ַֽיהוָ֤ה אוֹתִי֙ כְּגִבּ֣וֹר עָרִ֔יץ עַל־כֵּ֛ן רֹדְפַ֥י יִכָּשְׁל֖וּ וְלֹ֣א יֻכָ֑לוּ בֹּ֤שׁוּ מְאֹד֙ כִּֽי־לֹ֣א הִשְׂכִּ֔ילוּ כְּלִמַּ֥ת עוֹלָ֖ם לֹ֥א תִשָּׁכֵֽחַ׃
But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
12 κυριε δοκιμαζων δικαια συνιων νεφρους και καρδιας ιδοιμι την παρα σου εκδικησιν εν αυτοις οτι προς σε απεκαλυψα τα απολογηματα μου
ַיהוָ֤ה צְבָאוֹת֙ בֹּחֵ֣ן צַדִּ֔יק רֹאֶ֥ה כְלָי֖וֹת וָלֵ֑ב אֶרְאֶ֤ה נִקְמָֽתְךָ֙ מֵהֶ֔ם כִּ֥י אֵלֶ֖יךָ גִּלִּ֥יתִי אֶת־רִיבִֽי׃ ס
But, O LORD of hosts, that try the righteous, and see the reins and the heart, let me see your vengeance on them: for unto you have I opened my cause.
13 ασατε τω κυριω αινεσατε αυτω οτι εξειλατο ψυχην πενητος εκ χειρος πονηρευομενων
ִׁ֚ירוּ לַֽיהוָ֔ה הַֽלְל֖וּ אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה כִּ֥י הִצִּ֛יל אֶת־נֶ֥פֶשׁ אֶבְי֖וֹן מִיַּ֥ד מְרֵעִֽים׃ ס
Sing unto the LORD, praise all of you the LORD: for he has delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
14 επικαταρατος η ημερα εν η ετεχθην εν αυτη η ημερα εν η ετεκεν με η μητηρ μου μη εστω επευκτη
ָר֣וּר הַיּ֔וֹם אֲשֶׁ֥ר יֻלַּ֖דְתִּי בּ֑וֹ י֛וֹם אֲשֶׁר־יְלָדַ֥תְנִי אִמִּ֖י אַל־יְהִ֥י בָרֽוּךְ׃
Cursed be the day wherein I was born: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
15 επικαταρατος ο ανθρωπος ο ευαγγελισαμενος τω πατρι μου λεγων ετεχθη σοι αρσεν ευφραινομενος
ָר֣וּר הָאִ֗ישׁ אֲשֶׁ֨ר בִּשַּׂ֤ר אֶת־אָבִי֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר יֻֽלַּד־לְךָ֖ בֵּ֣ן זָכָ֑ר שַׂמֵּ֖חַ שִׂמֳּחָֽהוּ׃
Cursed be the man who brought tidings to my father, saying, A male child is born unto you; making him very glad.
16 εστω ο ανθρωπος εκεινος ως αι πολεις ας κατεστρεψεν κυριος εν θυμω και ου μετεμεληθη ακουσατω κραυγης το πρωι και αλαλαγμου μεσημβριας
ְהָיָה֙ הָאִ֣ישׁ הַה֔וּא כֶּֽעָרִ֛ים אֲשֶׁר־הָפַ֥ךְ יְהוָ֖ה וְלֹ֣א נִחָ֑ם וְשָׁמַ֤ע זְעָקָה֙ בַּבֹּ֔קֶר וּתְרוּעָ֖ה בְּעֵ֥ת צָהֳרָֽיִם׃
And let that man be as the cities which the LORD overthrew, and repented not: and let him hear the cry in the morning, and the shouting at noontide;
17 οτι ουκ απεκτεινεν με εν μητρα μητρος και εγενετο μοι η μητηρ μου ταφος μου και η μητρα συλλημψεως αιωνιας
ֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־מוֹתְתַ֖נִי מֵרָ֑חֶם וַתְּהִי־לִ֤י אִמִּי֙ קִבְרִ֔י וְרַחְמָ֖הֿ הֲרַ֥ת עוֹלָֽם׃
Because he slew me not from the womb; or that my mother might have been my grave, and her womb to be always great with me.
18 ινα τι τουτο εξηλθον εκ μητρας του βλεπειν κοπους και πονους και διετελεσαν εν αισχυνη αι ημεραι μου
ָ֤מָּה זֶּה֙ מֵרֶ֣חֶם יָצָ֔אתִי לִרְא֥וֹת עָמָ֖ל וְיָג֑וֹן וַיִּכְל֥וּ בְּבֹ֖שֶׁת יָמָֽי׃ פ
Wherefore came I forth out of the womb to see labour and sorrow, that my days should be consumed with shame?
