God’s Day of Vengeance and Redemption
τις ουτος ο παραγινομενος εξ εδωμ ερυθημα ιματιων εκ βοσορ ουτως ωραιος εν στολη βια μετα ισχυος εγω διαλεγομαι δικαιοσυνην και κρισιν σωτηριου
ִי־זֶ֣ה ׀ בָּ֣א מֵאֱד֗וֹם חֲמ֤וּץ בְּגָדִים֙ מִבָּצְרָ֔ה זֶ֚ה הָד֣וּר בִּלְבוּשׁ֔וֹ צֹעֶ֖ה בְּרֹ֣ב כֹּח֑וֹ אֲנִ֛י מְדַבֵּ֥ר בִּצְדָקָ֖ה רַ֥ב לְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
Who is this that comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 δια τι σου ερυθρα τα ιματια και τα ενδυματα σου ως απο πατητου ληνου
ַדּ֥וּעַ אָדֹ֖ם לִלְבוּשֶׁ֑ךָ וּבְגָדֶ֖יךָ כְּדֹרֵ֥ךְ בְּגַֽת׃
Wherefore are you red in yours apparel, and your garments like him that treads in the winepress?
3 πληρης καταπεπατημενης και των εθνων ουκ εστιν ανηρ μετ εμου και κατεπατησα αυτους εν θυμω και κατεθλασα αυτους ως γην και κατηγαγον το αιμα αυτων εις γην
ּוּרָ֣ה ׀ דָּרַ֣כְתִּי לְבַדִּ֗י וּמֵֽעַמִּים֙ אֵֽין־אִ֣ישׁ אִתִּ֔י וְאֶדְרְכֵ֣ם בְּאַפִּ֔י וְאֶרְמְסֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְיֵ֤ז נִצְחָם֙ עַל־בְּגָדַ֔י וְכָל־מַלְבּוּשַׁ֖י אֶגְאָֽלְתִּי׃
I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
4 ημερα γαρ ανταποδοσεως επηλθεν αυτοις και ενιαυτος λυτρωσεως παρεστιν
ִּ֛י י֥וֹם נָקָ֖ם בְּלִבִּ֑י וּשְׁנַ֥ת גְּאוּלַ֖י בָּֽאָה׃
For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed has come.
5 και επεβλεψα και ουδεις βοηθος και προσενοησα και ουθεις αντελαμβανετο και ερρυσατο αυτους ο βραχιων μου και ο θυμος μου επεστη
ְאַבִּיט֙ וְאֵ֣ין עֹזֵ֔ר וְאֶשְׁתּוֹמֵ֖ם וְאֵ֣ין סוֹמֵ֑ךְ וַתּ֤וֹשַֽׁע לִי֙ זְרֹעִ֔י וַחֲמָתִ֖י הִ֥יא סְמָכָֽתְנִי׃
And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
6 και κατεπατησα αυτους τη οργη μου και κατηγαγον το αιμα αυτων εις γην
ְאָב֤וּס עַמִּים֙ בְּאַפִּ֔י וַאֲשַׁכְּרֵ֖ם בַּחֲמָתִ֑י וְאוֹרִ֥יד לָאָ֖רֶץ נִצְחָֽם׃ ס
And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

Praise and Prayer
τον ελεον κυριου εμνησθην τας αρετας κυριου εν πασιν οις ο κυριος ημιν ανταποδιδωσιν κυριος κριτης αγαθος τω οικω ισραηλ επαγει ημιν κατα το ελεος αυτου και κατα το πληθος της δικαιοσυνης αυτου
ַֽסְדֵ֨י יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אַזְכִּיר֙ תְּהִלֹּ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה כְּעַ֕ל כֹּ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֖נוּ יְהוָ֑ה וְרַב־טוּב֙ לְבֵ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁר־גְּמָלָ֥ם כְּֽרַחֲמָ֖יו וּכְרֹ֥ב חֲסָדָֽיו׃
I will mention the loving kindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.
8 και ειπεν ουχ ο λαος μου τεκνα ου μη αθετησωσιν και εγενετο αυτοις εις σωτηριαν
ַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אַךְ־עַמִּ֣י הֵ֔מָּה בָּנִ֖ים לֹ֣א יְשַׁקֵּ֑רוּ וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְמוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.
9 εκ πασης θλιψεως ου πρεσβυς ουδε αγγελος αλλ αυτος κυριος εσωσεν αυτους δια το αγαπαν αυτους και φειδεσθαι αυτων αυτος ελυτρωσατο αυτους και ανελαβεν αυτους και υψωσεν αυτους πασας τας ημερας του αιωνος
ְּֽכָל־צָרָתָ֣ם ׀ *לא **ל֣וֹ צָ֗ר וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ פָּנָיו֙ הֽוֹשִׁיעָ֔ם בְּאַהֲבָת֥וֹ וּבְחֶמְלָת֖וֹ ה֣וּא גְאָלָ֑ם וַֽיְנַטְּלֵ֥ם וַֽיְנַשְּׂאֵ֖ם כָּל־יְמֵ֥י עוֹלָֽם׃
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
10 αυτοι δε ηπειθησαν και παρωξυναν το πνευμα το αγιον αυτου και εστραφη αυτοις εις εχθραν και αυτος επολεμησεν αυτους
ְהֵ֛מָּה מָר֥וּ וְעִצְּב֖וּ אֶת־ר֣וּחַ קָדְשׁ֑וֹ וַיֵּהָפֵ֥ךְ לָהֶ֛ם לְאוֹיֵ֖ב ה֥וּא נִלְחַם־בָּֽם׃
But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
11 και εμνησθη ημερων αιωνιων ο αναβιβασας εκ της γης τον ποιμενα των προβατων που εστιν ο θεις εν αυτοις το πνευμα το αγιον
ַיִּזְכֹּ֥ר יְמֵֽי־עוֹלָ֖ם מֹשֶׁ֣ה עַמּ֑וֹ אַיֵּ֣ה ׀ הַֽמַּעֲלֵ֣ם מִיָּ֗ם אֵ֚ת רֹעֵ֣י צֹאנ֔וֹ אַיֵּ֛ה הַשָּׂ֥ם בְּקִרְבּ֖וֹ אֶת־ר֥וּחַ קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃
Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
12 ο αγαγων τη δεξια μωυσην ο βραχιων της δοξης αυτου κατισχυσεν υδωρ απο προσωπου αυτου ποιησαι αυτω ονομα αιωνιον
וֹלִיךְ֙ לִימִ֣ין מֹשֶׁ֔ה זְר֖וֹעַ תִּפְאַרְתּ֑וֹ בּ֤וֹקֵֽעַ מַ֙יִם֙ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת ל֖וֹ שֵׁ֥ם עוֹלָֽם׃
That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?
13 ηγαγεν αυτους δια της αβυσσου ως ιππον δι ερημου και ουκ εκοπιασαν
וֹלִיכָ֖ם בַּתְּהֹמ֑וֹת כַּסּ֥וּס בַּמִּדְבָּ֖ר לֹ֥א יִכָּשֵֽׁלוּ׃
That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?
14 και ως κτηνη δια πεδιου κατεβη πνευμα παρα κυριου και ωδηγησεν αυτους ουτως ηγαγες τον λαον σου ποιησαι σεαυτω ονομα δοξης
ַּבְּהֵמָה֙ בַּבִּקְעָ֣ה תֵרֵ֔ד ר֥וּחַ יְהוָ֖ה תְּנִיחֶ֑נּוּ כֵּ֚ן נִהַ֣גְתָּ עַמְּךָ֔ לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת לְךָ֖ שֵׁ֥ם תִּפְאָֽרֶת׃
As a beast goes down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so did you lead your people, to make yourself a glorious name.
15 επιστρεψον εκ του ουρανου και ιδε εκ του οικου του αγιου σου και δοξης που εστιν ο ζηλος σου και η ισχυς σου που εστιν το πληθος του ελεους σου και των οικτιρμων σου οτι ανεσχου ημων
ַבֵּ֤ט מִשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙ וּרְאֵ֔ה מִזְּבֻ֥ל קָדְשְׁךָ֖ וְתִפְאַרְתֶּ֑ךָ אַיֵּ֤ה קִנְאֽ͏ָתְךָ֙ וּגְב֣וּרֹתֶ֔ךָ הֲמ֥וֹן מֵעֶ֛יךָ וְֽרַחֲמֶ֖יךָ אֵלַ֥י הִתְאַפָּֽקוּ׃
Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where is your zeal and your strength, the sounding of your bowels and of your mercies toward me? are they restrained?
16 συ γαρ ημων ει πατηρ οτι αβρααμ ουκ εγνω ημας και ισραηλ ουκ επεγνω ημας αλλα συ κυριε πατηρ ημων ρυσαι ημας απ αρχης το ονομα σου εφ ημας εστιν
ִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה אָבִ֔ינוּ כִּ֤י אַבְרָהָם֙ לֹ֣א יְדָעָ֔נוּ וְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֹ֣א יַכִּירָ֑נוּ אַתָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אָבִ֔ינוּ גֹּאֲלֵ֥נוּ מֵֽעוֹלָ֖ם שְׁמֶֽךָ׃
Doubtless you are our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: you, O LORD, are our father, our redeemer; your name is from everlasting.
17 τι επλανησας ημας κυριε απο της οδου σου εσκληρυνας ημων τας καρδιας του μη φοβεισθαι σε επιστρεψον δια τους δουλους σου δια τας φυλας της κληρονομιας σου
ָ֣מָּה תַתְעֵ֤נוּ יְהוָה֙ מִדְּרָכֶ֔יךָ תַּקְשִׁ֥יחַ לִבֵּ֖נוּ מִיִּרְאָתֶ֑ךָ שׁ֚וּב לְמַ֣עַן עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ שִׁבְטֵ֖י נַחֲלָתֶֽךָ׃
O LORD, why have you made us to go astray from your ways, and hardened our heart from your fear? Return for your servants' sake, the tribes of yours inheritance.
18 ινα μικρον κληρονομησωμεν του ορους του αγιου σου οι υπεναντιοι ημων κατεπατησαν το αγιασμα σου
ַמִּצְעָ֕ר יָרְשׁ֖וּ עַם־קָדְשֶׁ֑ךָ צָרֵ֕ינוּ בּוֹסְס֖וּ מִקְדָּשֶֽׁךָ׃
The people of your holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down your sanctuary.
19 εγενομεθα ως το απ αρχης οτε ουκ ηρξας ημων ουδε επεκληθη το ονομα σου εφ ημας εαν ανοιξης τον ουρανον τρομος λημψεται απο σου ορη και τακησονται
ָיִ֗ינוּ מֵֽעוֹלָם֙ לֹֽא־מָשַׁ֣לְתָּ בָּ֔ם לֹֽא־נִקְרָ֥א שִׁמְךָ֖ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם לוּא־קָרַ֤עְתָּ שָׁמַ֙יִם֙ יָרַ֔דְתָּ מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ הָרִ֥ים נָזֹֽלּוּ׃
We are yours: you never bare rule over them; they were not called by your name.
