David’s House and Family
και απεστειλεν χιραμ βασιλευς τυρου αγγελους προς δαυιδ και ξυλα κεδρινα και οικοδομους τοιχων και τεκτονας ξυλων του οικοδομησαι αυτω οικον
ַ֠יִּשְׁלַח *חירם **חוּרָ֨ם מֶֽלֶךְ־צֹ֥ר מַלְאָכִים֮ אֶל־דָּוִיד֒ וַעֲצֵ֣י אֲרָזִ֔ים וְחָרָשֵׁ֣י קִ֔יר וְחָרָשֵׁ֖י עֵצִ֑ים לִבְנ֥וֹת ל֖וֹ בָּֽיִת׃
Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with stone workers and carpenters, to build him an house.
2 και εγνω δαυιδ οτι ητοιμησεν αυτον κυριος επι ισραηλ οτι ηυξηθη εις υψος η βασιλεια αυτου δια τον λαον αυτου ισραηλ
ַיֵּ֣דַע דָּוִ֔יד כִּֽי־הֱכִינ֧וֹ יְהוָ֛ה לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּֽי־נִשֵּׂ֤את לְמַ֙עְלָה֙ מַלְכוּת֔וֹ בַּעֲב֖וּר עַמּ֥וֹ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פ
And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
3 και ελαβεν δαυιδ ετι γυναικας εν ιερουσαλημ και ετεχθησαν δαυιδ ετι υιοι και θυγατερες
ַיִּקַּ֨ח דָּוִ֥יד ע֛וֹד נָשִׁ֖ים בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם וַיּ֧וֹלֶד דָּוִ֛יד ע֖וֹד בָּנִ֥ים וּבָנֽוֹת׃
And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David brings forth more sons and daughters.
4 και ταυτα τα ονοματα αυτων των τεχθεντων οι ησαν αυτω εν ιερουσαλημ σαμαα ισοβααμ ναθαν σαλωμων
ְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ שְׁמ֣וֹת הַיְלוּדִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיוּ־ל֖וֹ בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑͏ִם שַׁמּ֣וּעַ וְשׁוֹבָ֔ב נָתָ֖ן וּשְׁלֹמֹֽה׃
Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 και ιβααρ και ελισαε και ελιφαλετ
ְיִבְחָ֥ר וֶאֱלִישׁ֖וּעַ וְאֶלְפָּֽלֶט׃
And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6 και ναγε και ναφαγ και ιανουου
ְנֹ֥גַהּ וְנֶ֖פֶג וְיָפִֽיעַ׃
And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7 και ελισαμαε και βαλεγδαε και ελιφαλετ
ֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֥ע וּבְעֶלְיָדָ֖ע וֶאֱלִיפָֽלֶט׃
And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

David Defeats the Philistines
και ηκουσαν αλλοφυλοι οτι εχρισθη δαυιδ βασιλευς επι παντα ισραηλ και ανεβησαν παντες οι αλλοφυλοι ζητησαι τον δαυιδ και ηκουσεν δαυιδ και εξηλθεν εις απαντησιν αυτοις
ַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי־נִמְשַׁ֨ח דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ כָל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔יד וַיֵּצֵ֖א לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
9 και αλλοφυλοι ηλθον και συνεπεσον εν τη κοιλαδι των γιγαντων
ּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖ים בָּ֑אוּ וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃
And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
10 και ηρωτησεν δαυιδ δια του θεου λεγων ει αναβω επι τους αλλοφυλους και δωσεις αυτους εις τας χειρας μου και ειπεν αυτω κυριος αναβηθι και δωσω αυτους εις τας χειρας σου
ַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל דָּוִ֤יד בֵּאלֹהִים֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ עַל־*פלשתיים **פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וּנְתַתָּ֖ם בְּיָדִ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר ל֤וֹ יְהוָה֙ עֲלֵ֔ה וּנְתַתִּ֖ים בְּיָדֶֽךָ׃
And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will you deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into yours hand.
11 και ανεβη εις βααλφαρασιν και επαταξεν αυτους εκει δαυιδ και ειπεν δαυιδ διεκοψεν ο θεος τους εχθρους μου εν χειρι μου ως διακοπην υδατος δια τουτο εκαλεσεν το ονομα του τοπου εκεινου διακοπη φαρασιν
ַיַּעֲל֥וּ בְּבַֽעַל־פְּרָצִים֮ וַיַּכֵּ֣ם שָׁ֣ם דָּוִיד֒ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד פָּרַ֨ץ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֧ים אֶת־אוֹיְבַ֛י בְּיָדִ֖י כְּפֶ֣רֶץ מָ֑יִם עַל־כֵּ֗ן קָֽרְא֛וּ שֵֽׁם־הַמָּק֥וֹם הַה֖וּא בַּ֥עַל פְּרָצִֽים׃
So they came up to Baalperazim; and David stroke them there. Then David said, God has broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking out of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.
12 και εγκατελιπον εκει τους θεους αυτων και ειπεν δαυιδ κατακαυσαι αυτους εν πυρι
ַיַּעַזְבוּ־שָׁ֖ם אֶת־אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד וַיִּשָּׂרְפ֖וּ בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ פ
And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13 και προσεθεντο ετι αλλοφυλοι και συνεπεσαν ετι εν τη κοιλαδι των γιγαντων
ַיֹּסִ֤יפוּ עוֹד֙ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים וַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּ בָּעֵֽמֶק׃
And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14 και ηρωτησεν δαυιδ ετι εν θεω και ειπεν αυτω ο θεος ου πορευση οπισω αυτων αποστρεφου απ αυτων και παρεση αυτοις πλησιον των απιων
ַיִּשְׁאַ֨ל ע֤וֹד דָּוִיד֙ בֵּֽאלֹהִ֔ים וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹ֥א תֽ͏ַעֲלֶ֖ה אֽ͏ַחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם הָסֵב֙ מֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֔ם וּבָ֥אתָ לָהֶ֖ם מִמּ֥וּל הַבְּכָאִֽים׃
Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them opposite to the mulberry trees.
15 και εσται εν τω ακουσαι σε την φωνην του συσσεισμου των ακρων των απιων τοτε εξελευση εις τον πολεμον οτι εξηλθεν ο θεος εμπροσθεν σου του παταξαι την παρεμβολην των αλλοφυλων
ִ֠יהִי כְּֽשָׁמְעֲךָ֞ אֶת־ק֤וֹל הַצְּעָדָה֙ בְּרָאשֵׁ֣י הַבְּכָאִ֔ים אָ֖ז תֵּצֵ֣א בַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה כִּֽי־יָצָ֤א הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ לְפָנֶ֔יךָ לְהַכּ֖וֹת אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֥ה פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃
And it shall be, when you shall hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then you shall go out to battle: for God is gone forth before you to strike the host of the Philistines.
16 και εποιησεν καθως ενετειλατο αυτω ο θεος και επαταξεν την παρεμβολην των αλλοφυλων απο γαβαων εως γαζαρα
ַיַּ֣עַשׂ דָּוִ֔יד כּֽ͏ַאֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוָּ֖הוּ הֽ͏ָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיַּכּוּ֙ אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים מִגִּבְע֖וֹן וְעַד־גָּֽזְרָה׃
David therefore did as God commanded him: and they stroke the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
17 και εγενετο ονομα δαυιδ εν παση τη γη και κυριος εδωκεν τον φοβον αυτου επι παντα τα εθνη
ַיֵּצֵ֥א שֵׁם־דָּוִ֖יד בְּכָל־הָֽאֲרָצ֑וֹת וַֽיהוָ֛ה נָתַ֥ן אֶת־פַּחְדּ֖וֹ עַל־כָּל־הַגּוֹיִֽם׃
And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
