| 1 | David Becomes King Over Israelκαι ηλθεν πας ισραηλ προς δαυιδ εν χεβρων λεγοντες ιδου οστα σου και σαρκες σου ημειςַיִּקָּבְצ֧וּ כָֽל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶל־דָּוִ֖יד חֶבְר֣וֹנָה לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֛ה עַצְמְךָ֥ וּֽבְשָׂרְךָ֖ אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃ Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh. |

| 2 | και εχθες και τριτην οντος σαουλ βασιλεως συ ησθα ο εξαγων και εισαγων τον ισραηλ και ειπεν κυριος ο θεος σου σοι συ ποιμανεις τον λαον μου τον ισραηλ και συ εση εις ηγουμενον επι ισραηλ ַּם־תְּמ֣וֹל גַּם־שִׁלְשׁ֗וֹם גַּ֚ם בִּהְי֣וֹת שָׁא֣וּל מֶ֔לֶךְ אַתָּ֛ה הַמּוֹצִ֥יא וְהַמֵּבִ֖יא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֹּאמֶר֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ לְךָ֗ אַתָּ֨ה תִרְעֶ֤ה אֶת־עַמִּי֙ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאַתָּה֙ תִּהְיֶ֣ה נָגִ֔יד עַ֖ל עַמִּ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, you were he that led out and brought in Israel: and the LORD your God said unto you, You shall feed my people Israel, and you shall be ruler over my people Israel. |
| 3 | και ηλθον παντες πρεσβυτεροι ισραηλ προς τον βασιλεα εις χεβρων και διεθετο αυτοις ο βασιλευς δαυιδ διαθηκην εν χεβρων εναντιον κυριου και εχρισαν τον δαυιδ εις βασιλεα επι ισραηλ κατα τον λογον κυριου δια χειρος σαμουηλ ַ֠יָּבֹאוּ כָּל־זִקְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל אֶל־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ חֶבְר֔וֹנָה וַיִּכְרֹת֩ לָהֶ֨ם דָּוִ֥יד בְּרִ֛ית בְּחֶבְר֖וֹן לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּמְשְׁח֨וּ אֶת־דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה בְּיַד־שְׁמוּאֵֽל׃ ס Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by Samuel. |
| 4 | David Conquers Jerusalemκαι επορευθη ο βασιλευς και ανδρες ισραηλ εις ιερουσαλημ αυτη ιεβους και εκει οι ιεβουσαιοι οι κατοικουντες την γηνַיֵּ֨לֶךְ דָּוִ֧יד וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל יְרוּשָׁלַ֖͏ִם הִ֣יא יְב֑וּס וְשָׁם֙ הַיְבוּסִ֔י יֹשְׁבֵ֖י הָאָֽרֶץ׃ And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. |
| 5 | ειπαν δε οι κατοικουντες ιεβους τω δαυιδ ουκ εισελευση ωδε και προκατελαβετο την περιοχην σιων αυτη η πολις δαυιδ ַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ יֹשְׁבֵ֤י יְבוּס֙ לְדָוִ֔יד לֹ֥א תָב֖וֹא הֵ֑נָּה וַיִּלְכֹּ֤ד דָּוִיד֙ אֶת־מְצֻדַ֣ת צִיּ֔וֹן הִ֖יא עִ֥יר דָּוִֽיד׃ And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, You shall not come here. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David. |
| 6 | και ειπεν δαυιδ πας τυπτων ιεβουσαιον εν πρωτοις και εσται εις αρχοντα και εις στρατηγον και ανεβη επ αυτην εν πρωτοις ιωαβ υιος σαρουια και εγενετο εις αρχοντα ַיֹּ֣אמֶר דָּוִ֔יד כָּל־מַכֵּ֤ה יְבוּסִי֙ בָּרִ֣אשׁוֹנָ֔ה יִהְיֶ֥ה לְרֹ֖אשׁ וּלְשָׂ֑ר וַיַּ֧עַל בָּרִאשׁוֹנָ֛ה יוֹאָ֥ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֖ה וַיְהִ֥י לְרֹֽאשׁ׃ And David said, Whosoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief. |
| 7 | και εκαθισεν δαυιδ εν τη περιοχη δια τουτο εκαλεσεν αυτην πολιν δαυιδ ַיֵּ֥שֶׁב דָּוִ֖יד בַּמְצָ֑ד עַל־כֵּ֥ן קָרְאוּ־ל֖וֹ עִ֥יר דָּוִֽיד׃ And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David. |
| 8 | και ωκοδομησεν την πολιν κυκλω και επολεμησεν και ελαβεν την πολιν ַיִּ֤בֶן הָעִיר֙ מִסָּבִ֔יב מִן־הַמִּלּ֖וֹא וְעַד־הַסָּבִ֑יב וְיוֹאָ֕ב יְחַיֶּ֖ה אֶת־שְׁאָ֥ר הָעִֽיר׃ And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city. |
| 9 | και επορευετο δαυιδ πορευομενος και μεγαλυνομενος και κυριος παντοκρατωρ μετ αυτου ַיֵּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖יד הָל֣וֹךְ וְגָד֑וֹל וַיהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹת עִמּֽוֹ׃ פ So David waxed greater and greater: for the LORD of hosts was with him. |
| 10 | David’s Mighty Warriorsκαι ουτοι οι αρχοντες των δυνατων οι ησαν τω δαυιδ οι κατισχυοντες μετ αυτου εν τη βασιλεια αυτου μετα παντος ισραηλ του βασιλευσαι αυτον κατα τον λογον κυριου επι ισραηλְאֵ֨לֶּה רָאשֵׁ֤י הַגִּבּוֹרִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֔יד הַמִּתְחַזְּקִ֨ים עִמּ֧וֹ בְמַלְכוּת֛וֹ עִם־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לְהַמְלִיכ֑וֹ כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ ס These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel. |
| 11 | και ουτος ο αριθμος των δυνατων του δαυιδ ιεσεβααλ υιος αχαμανι πρωτος των τριακοντα ουτος εσπασατο την ρομφαιαν αυτου απαξ επι τριακοσιους τραυματιας εν καιρω ενι ְאֵ֛לֶּה מִסְפַּ֥ר הַגִּבֹּרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְדָוִ֑יד יָשָׁבְעָ֣ם בֶּן־חַכְמוֹנִ֗י רֹ֚אשׁ *השלושים **הַשָּׁ֣לִישִׁ֔ים הֽוּא־עוֹרֵ֧ר אֶת־חֲנִית֛וֹ עַל־שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת חָלָ֖ל בְּפַ֥עַם אֶחָֽת׃ And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at the same. |
| 12 | και μετ αυτον ελεαζαρ υιος δωδαι ο αχωχι ουτος ην εν τοις τρισιν δυνατοις ְאַחֲרָ֛יו אֶלְעָזָ֥ר בֶּן־דּוֹד֖וֹ הָאֲחוֹחִ֑י ה֖וּא בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֥ה הַגִּבֹּרִֽים׃ And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men. |
| 13 | ουτος ην μετα δαυιδ εν φασοδομιν και οι αλλοφυλοι συνηχθησαν εκει εις πολεμον και ην μερις του αγρου πληρης κριθων και ο λαος εφυγεν απο προσωπου αλλοφυλων ֽוּא־הָיָ֨ה עִם־דָּוִ֜יד בַּפַּ֣ס דַּמִּ֗ים וְהַפְּלִשְׁתִּים֙ נֶאֱסְפוּ־שָׁ֣ם לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וַתְּהִ֛י חֶלְקַ֥ת הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה מְלֵאָ֣ה שְׂעוֹרִ֑ים וְהָעָ֥ם נָ֖סוּ מִפְּנֵ֥י פְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃ He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines. |
| 14 | και εστη εν μεσω της μεριδος και εσωσεν αυτην και επαταξεν τους αλλοφυλους και εποιησεν κυριος σωτηριαν μεγαλην ַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֤וּ בְתוֹךְ־הַחֶלְקָה֙ וַיַּצִּיל֔וּהָ וַיַּכּ֖וּ אֶת־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַיּ֥וֹשַׁע יְהוָ֖ה תְּשׁוּעָ֥ה גְדוֹלָֽה׃ And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance. |
| 15 | και κατεβησαν τρεις εκ των τριακοντα αρχοντων εις την πετραν προς δαυιδ εις το σπηλαιον οδολλαμ και παρεμβολη των αλλοφυλων παρεμβεβληκει εν τη κοιλαδι των γιγαντων ַיֵּרְד֡וּ שְֽׁלוֹשָׁה֩ מִן־הַשְּׁלוֹשִׁ֨ים רֹ֤אשׁ עַל־הַצֻּר֙ אֶל־דָּוִ֔יד אֶל־מְעָרַ֖ת עֲדֻלָּ֑ם וּמַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים חֹנָ֖ה בְּעֵ֥מֶק רְפָאִֽים׃ Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim. |
| 16 | και δαυιδ τοτε εν τη περιοχη και το συστεμα των αλλοφυλων τοτε εν βαιθλεεμ ְדָוִ֖יד אָ֣ז בַּמְּצוּדָ֑ה וּנְצִ֣יב פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים אָ֖ז בְּבֵ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃ And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines' garrison was then at Bethlehem. |
| 17 | και επεθυμησεν δαυιδ και ειπεν τις ποτιει με υδωρ εκ του λακκου βαιθλεεμ του εν τη πυλη ?יתאו **וַיִּתְאָ֥יו דָּוִ֖יד וַיֹּאמַ֑ר מִ֚י יַשְׁקֵ֣נִי מַ֔יִם מִבּ֥וֹר בֵּֽית־לֶ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate! |
| 18 | και διερρηξαν οι τρεις την παρεμβολην των αλλοφυλων και υδρευσαντο υδωρ εκ του λακκου του εν βαιθλεεμ ος ην εν τη πυλη και ελαβον και ηλθον προς δαυιδ και ουκ ηθελησεν δαυιδ του πιειν αυτο και εσπεισεν αυτο τω κυριω ַיִּבְקְע֨וּ הַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֜ה בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ־מַ֙יִם֙ מִבּ֤וֹר בֵּֽית־לֶ֙חֶם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשַּׁ֔עַר וַיִּשְׂא֖וּ וַיָּבִ֣אוּ אֶל־דָּוִ֑יד וְלֹֽא־אָבָ֤ה דָוִיד֙ לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֔ם וַיְנַסֵּ֥ךְ אֹתָ֖ם לַיהוָֽה׃ And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD. |
| 19 | και ειπεν ιλεως μοι ο θεος του ποιησαι το ρημα τουτο ει αιμα ανδρων τουτων πιομαι εν ψυχαις αυτων οτι εν ψυχαις αυτων ηνεγκαν αυτο και ουκ εβουλετο πιειν αυτο ταυτα εποιησαν οι τρεις δυνατοι ַיֹּ֡אמֶר חָלִילָה֩ לִּ֨י מֵאֱלֹהַ֜י מֵעֲשׂ֣וֹת זֹ֗את הֲדַ֣ם הָאֲנָשִׁים֩ הָאֵ֨לֶּה אֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה בְנַפְשׁוֹתָם֙ כִּ֣י בְנַפְשׁוֹתָ֣ם הֱבִיא֔וּם וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם אֵ֣לֶּה עָשׂ֔וּ שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת הַגִּבּוֹרִֽים׃ And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three might. |
| 20 | και αβεσσα αδελφος ιωαβ ουτος ην αρχων των τριων ουτος εσπασατο την ρομφαιαν αυτου επι τριακοσιους τραυματιας εν καιρω ενι και ουτος ην ονομαστος εν τοις τρισιν ְאַבְשַׁ֣י אֲחִֽי־יוֹאָ֗ב ה֤וּא הָיָה֙ רֹ֣אשׁ הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֔ה וְהוּא֙ עוֹרֵ֣ר אֶת־חֲנִית֔וֹ עַל־שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת חָלָ֑ל *ולא־**וְלוֹ־שֵׁ֖ם בַּשְּׁלוֹשָֽׁה׃ And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three. |
| 21 | απο των τριων υπερ τους δυο ενδοξος και ην αυτοις εις αρχοντα και εως των τριων ουκ ηρχετο ִן־הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֤ה בַשְּׁנַ֙יִם֙ נִכְבָּ֔ד וַיְהִ֥י לָהֶ֖ם לְשָׂ֑ר וְעַד־הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֖ה לֹֽא־בָֽא׃ ס Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: nevertheless he attained not to the first three. |
| 22 | και βαναιας υιος ιωδαε υιος ανδρος δυνατου πολλα εργα αυτου υπερ καβασαηλ ουτος επαταξεν τους δυο αριηλ μωαβ και ουτος κατεβη και επαταξεν τον λεοντα εν τω λακκω εν ημερα χιονος ְּנָיָ֨ה בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֧ע בֶּן־אִֽישׁ־חַ֛יִל רַב־פְּעָלִ֖ים מִֽן־קַבְצְאֵ֑ל ה֣וּא הִכָּ֗ה אֵ֣ת שְׁנֵ֤י אֲרִיאֵל֙ מוֹאָ֔ב וְ֠הוּא יָרַ֞ד וְהִכָּ֧ה אֶֽת־הָאֲרִ֛י בְּת֥וֹךְ הַבּ֖וֹר בְּי֥וֹם הַשָּֽׁלֶג׃ Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day. |
| 23 | και ουτος επαταξεν τον ανδρα τον αιγυπτιον ανδρα ορατον πενταπηχυν και εν χειρι του αιγυπτιου δορυ ως αντιον υφαινοντων και κατεβη επ αυτον βαναιας εν ραβδω και αφειλατο εκ της χειρος του αιγυπτιου το δορυ και απεκτεινεν αυτον εν τω δορατι αυτου ְהֽוּא־הִכָּה֩ אֶת־הָאִ֨ישׁ הַמִּצְרִ֜י אִ֥ישׁ מִדָּ֣ה ׀ חָמֵ֣שׁ בָּאַמָּ֗ה וּבְיַ֨ד הַמִּצְרִ֤י חֲנִית֙ כִּמְנ֣וֹר אֹרְגִ֔ים וַיֵּ֥רֶד אֵלָ֖יו בַּשָּׁ֑בֶט וַיִּגְזֹ֤ל אֶֽת־הַחֲנִית֙ מִיַּ֣ד הַמִּצְרִ֔י וַיַּהַרְגֵ֖הוּ בַּחֲנִיתֽוֹ׃ And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear. |
| 24 | ταυτα εποιησεν βαναιας υιος ιωδαε και τουτω ονομα εν τοις τρισιν τοις δυνατοις ֵ֣לֶּה עָשָׂ֔ה בְּנָיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־יְהוֹיָדָ֑ע וְלוֹ־שֵׁ֖ם בִּשְׁלוֹשָׁ֥ה הַגִּבֹּרִֽים׃ These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighty men. |
| 25 | υπερ τους τριακοντα ενδοξος ουτος και προς τους τρεις ουκ ηρχετο και κατεστησεν αυτον δαυιδ επι την πατριαν αυτου ִן־הַשְּׁלוֹשִׁ֗ים הִנּ֤וֹ נִכְבָּד֙ ה֔וּא וְאֶל־הַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֖ה לֹא־בָ֑א וַיְשִׂימֵ֥הוּ דָוִ֖יד עַל־מִשְׁמַעְתּֽוֹ׃ ס Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard. |
| 26 | και δυνατοι των δυναμεων ασαηλ αδελφος ιωαβ ελεαναν υιος δωδω εκ βαιθλαεμ ְגִבּוֹרֵ֖י הַחֲיָלִ֑ים עֲשָׂה־אֵל֙ אֲחִ֣י יוֹאָ֔ב אֶלְחָנָ֥ן בֶּן־דּוֹד֖וֹ מִבֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃ ס Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, |

| 28 | ωραι υιος εκκης ο θεκωι αβιεζερ ο αναθωθι ִירָ֤א בֶן־עִקֵּשׁ֙ הַתְּקוֹעִ֔י אֲבִיעֶ֖זֶר הָעֲנְּתוֹתִֽי׃ ס Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Antothite, |
| 29 | σοβοχαι ο ασωθι ηλι ο αχωι ִבְּכַי֙ הַחֻ֣שָׁתִ֔י עִילַ֖י הָאֲחוֹחִֽי׃ ס Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite, |
| 30 | μοοραι ο νετωφαθι χολοδ υιος νοοζα ο νετωφαθι ַהְרַי֙ הַנְּטֹ֣פָתִ֔י חֵ֥לֶד בֶּֽן־בַּֽעֲנָ֖ה הַנְּטוֹפָתִֽי׃ ס Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite, |
